“That’s why we wanted both of you here,” Sierra said. “To discuss the ideas and see what is possible.”

“Let’s sit down and talk about this.” Max led Sierra her over to the patio tables and pulled out a chair for her. Dani followed, not surprised when Gabriel held a chair out for her.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

Gabriel didn’t say anything, but his hands brushed over her shoulders before he sat down next to her.

For the next hour, Max outlined what he wanted to do to the pool area and outside the club as well.

“I can check out where the electrical and plumbing runs. We might have to run some new lines. Plus, I would have to work with Dani closely; there are a lot of trees in the areas you’re talking about.”

“That’s true.” Dani had been making little sketches on her tablet. “I’ll need to check local ordinances since this is adding to what we’re already doing. I know it’s not a building, but we’d be removing a lot of trees.”

“We’ll replace them,” Sierra said.

“I know you will, but I have to check the regulations. Even though this is private land, the state and city can be very picky about how much forest is impacted.” She made a note on her tablet. “Gabriel and I will have to get together and figure out a schedule once everything is laid out.” Working with Gabriel would be interesting.

“I can do the sketching and so forth, but I’ll need Zeke’s crew to do the work. How soon do you want a proposal?” Gabriel asked.

“I would think you would want to have the work completed before winter sets in,” Dani said.

“That would be ideal,” Max said. “But we’re not on a tight timeframe or anything.”

Gabriel sat back in his chair. “All right, let’s start with getting some plans together and seeing what kind of permits, if any, we need, and we can go from there.” He turned toward Dani. “Does that work for you?”

“Yes. Remember, if we need permits, they could take a week to several months.”

“That’s why our timeline is rather flexible,” Max said. “Plus, I know Zeke will do the work, and he is overloaded with jobs right now.”

“He is. That’s why I’m helping him supervise the construction guys out here at the club,” Gabriel said. “I’ll check with Zeke and see who’s available, and I’ll take care of them.”

“I’ll start researching the forest ordinances and some possible plans that’ll work with what you want to do.” Dani made more notes on her tablet.

“Anything else?” Max asked.

“I don’t—” Dani’s phone rang. “Excuse me for a moment.” She stood and pulled her phone out of her back pocket, taking a few steps away before answering. “This is Dani.”

“It’s Jeff. Did those new succulents come in for the Mason job?”

“They should’ve come in first thing this morning.”

“That’s what I thought. I just talked with Lydia, and she said there were no deliveries so far today.”

Dani rubbed her forehead. Great, another late delivery. “Have Lydia call them and tell them they must be delivered today. You have enough to do on the Mason job. Putting in the succulents can wait till tomorrow, but we have to have those plants.”

“You got it, boss. I just wanted to make sure no one had called you.”

The line went dead, and Dani rubbed her forehead with her free hand as she put her phone away. Late deliveries were getting to be a habit lately. She might have to find a new supplier.

“Problem?” Gabriel asked as he walked up to her. Dani glanced up and noticed that Max and Sierra were gone.

“Just a late delivery. Where did Max and Sierra go?”

“They didn’t have anything else to tell us. And Sierra needed to go to her office.”

“That makes sense. I sometimes forget that Sierra still has a job.” She walked back over to the table and picked up her tablet. “I need to get moving. I have a couple of the jobs I need to check in on.”

“I’ll walk out with you,” Gabriel said.
