“Not really. Moving back would be better. There’s not much to do here. You’re not here. My family is not here.” I groan.

My phone starts to vibrate, and Kyro is calling. “Hey, let me hit you back later.”

“For sure.” She hangs up.

“So…how did it go?” My nails tap my leg.

Kyro starts to chuckle, “I didn’t kill the pig. Even though I should.”

“Why? What happened?” I am so damn nosey.

“He thinks Maeve and I are having an affair.” He answers.

I roll my eyes, “Why would he think that?”

“In his own words, I wanted to trade up,” Kyro replies.

I narrow my eyes at the phone. “What the fuck does that mean?”

“It means I should have killed that pig but, I didn’t put him on a hook and let him bleed out.” He pauses, “Are you proud?”

I inhale. “I am.”

“Then I expect a surprise when I get back in a few hours.”

Atskleaves my mouth. “You want a treat for not killing Rowan? Fine.”

“My wife is so sweet.” He mocks.

“I have to work on your surprise now. I’ll see you later.” I instantly hung up and I know I’ll get punished for that later…hopefully.

I giggle to myself, and I think of the cute surprise. I remember that Kyro told me the name of this soup his mom would make him in Russia. “I have a better chance of making his cereal,” I whine.

Okay, what’s in this soup? I look up the ingredients.

“Yeah, you’re not going to like that soup. It’s got vegetables in the recipe.” Prince lingers next to me.

“I like vegetables…”

Prince narrows, “No, you don’t.”

“I do.”

“Name one vegetable you’ve eaten in the past week. French fries and cornbread don’t count.”

I think hard.

“It’s okay, Mom. I will take it back. Cornbread is okay.”

I put a hand on Prince’s cheek, “Thank you.”

“But seriously, what are you making?” Prince looks at my phone.

“A cold soup?” I ponder.

“Like cereal?”

My eyes grow wide. “You can’t be a genius and then say things like that. It throws me off.”
