He paused, pulling back just enough so there was a breath of space between our mouths. “You want me to stop?” The light rasp in his voice was a telltale sign he was just as turned on as I was. It hadn’t taken much on my part. The messy hair, the tattoos, the silently attentive actions were already sexy as hell, but now I’d dug a little deeper, I was itching to know what else he had hidden under that damn suit. I knew he was strong—I could feel it in the way he moved and how he held his body. It was confident and powerful, and all I could think about was how damn good it would feel over me, under me, and wrapped around me.

“Your place or mine?” I questioned, my heart stopping for a second at my own boldness. Probably it’s my way of saying what the fuck are you doing? You’ve just met this man. You don’t know anything about him.

For all I know, he could be a serial kille—

“I’m staying a couple of streets over at The Rhodes Hotel.”

Or he could be a millionaire.

That building was new and next level.

We could just let this attraction play out.

I couldn’t let the past keep dictating the present.

One day, I needed to take a leap back into some kind of normalcy and take power back of my heart and body.

“Your place is a lot closer,” I answered, letting out a soft laugh and shaking my head. Probably looking crazy as hell. “And a lot nicer.”

He got to his feet and held out his hand. “Shall we?”

This was insane.

But there was something about this man and the way he made me feel. The protective hand on my back, the way he listened to me talk about flowers, how he didn’t pass my dreams off like some crazy idea.

It was different.

He was different.

So I took his hand and nodded.

“We shall.”

CASSIDY

We rushed through the lobby of The Rhodes Hotel.

I had to almost jog to keep up with Drake’s much larger steps and was completely out of breath by the time we reached the elevator and fell inside. I stumbled forward, catching myself on the bar that ran across the center of the three-foot-wide floor-to-ceiling window.

The door dinged and rolled shut behind us, and as we climbed higher and higher, floor by floor, the sparkling city lights and streets became clearer.

I was struggling to breathe before, but now it had simply been stolen.

“Wow,” I whispered, the view expanding by the second—first the city, then the water, and the bridges. “I thought I’d seen Boston from every angle.”

But this…

… this was beautiful and breathtaking.

Drake stepped up behind me, his hands resting on my hips and his lips brushing my neck and moving down over my shoulder, one swipe of his tongue against my skin, forcing a soft groan from deep in my throat. I let my head fall to the side, unable to turn away from the city in front of me but also wanting more of his touch at the same time.

Having his hands and lips on my body as we looked out over Boston, that was the kind of heart-pounding experience I’d never had before and one I wasn’t sure I’d ever get again, so I wasn’t about to let it pass without enjoying every damn second of it.

“Just letting you know, with the light on in here, anyone looking over from the other buildings can see us,” Drake whispered in my ear as he moved his hand from my hip, pulling my bag up over my head and tossing it to the side before he slipped his hand up under my shirt, his fingers tracing the underside of my bra.

I gripped the metal handrail in front of the window a little tighter and chewed on my bottom lip. He was right, there were several other buildings around us—apartments and offices, some with balconies and views straight into the elevator. People could be watching right now. I couldn’t tell and couldn’t see every single window to know. And yet, I did nothing as Drake’s finger pulled my shirt a little higher.

“You can stop me at any moment,” he murmured, the bristles on his face tickling my ear. I couldn’t help but press back into him, my mouth falling open when the long hard cock in his pants pressed hard against my ass. “Cassidy.”
