I was captivated.

“Better than I imagined,” I muttered to myself, admiring the perfectly sculptured, god-like man standing at the foot of the bed I was now lying in the center of. The tattoos covered both arms completely, ending over the curve of his shoulders, looking almost like armor.

It took everything I had not to just lay there and drool. The muscular ripples, the pants sitting just above his hips, not to mention the enticing bulge pressing at the front of them.Damn.I forced myself onto my hands and knees and crawled toward him, chewing my lip and reaching for his belt.

He grabbed my hands, and I looked up at him, my head falling to the side in confusion.

“That little taste just now got me real hungry,” he answered, using his thumb to tug my lip from between my teeth. “I’m not fucking you until I’ve devoured that pussy and made you come again. Maybe a third time just for luck.”

I could already feel myself getting wet again.

“A man who wants to make a woman come more than once before he gets his own?” I laughed, sitting back on my knees. “Where the hell did you come from?”

He smirked, leaning down to kiss me and tuck a loose strand of hair back from my face. “A place where we learn how to respect women.”

“Well,” I started, laying back with a sly smile. “I’m ready to be respected.”

“Dammit,” I cursed, glancing over at Drake who hadn’t moved.

Surprising, given my phone was ringing.

Aspen’s ring tone.

I made it extra annoying for when she called so I couldn’t sleep through it or mistake it for something else.

I sat up, throwing my legs over the edge of the bed, trying not to cringe at the way my muscles protested. It wasn’t so much painful but a gentle reminder they’d had one hell of a workout. I instantly threw the sheet back and went hunting for clothes—not even mine, just anything I could find before rushing out of the bedroom and following the noise.

My bag was tossed across a glass dining table, and I quickly opened it, finding the obnoxious screaming phone and hitting answer, “Aspen?”

“Cassie, can you come get me?” Aspen whispered gently. Her soft tone caught me off guard, almost sounding like she was scared. When she left The King’s Line with Danny, the smile on her face couldn’t have been wider. “Please.”

“Where are you?” I demanded, stepping into the bathroom, trying to ignore that it was the size of our entire small downtown apartment and focus on Aspen’s voice.

I’d seen my best friend stand up to men twice her size, and I’d seen her cuss out ‘Karens’ at Walmart who were making the cashiers’ lives hell when they were just trying to do their jobs, so I was instantly on alert hearing her timid tone.

I hit the speaker button, propping my phone against the mirror as I attempted to frantically pull on each item of clothing in the right order. First my shorts, but no sign of any panties, then apparently one of Drake’s T-shirts—my bra was also nowhere to be found. At least I recognized the name printed across the front of the shirt.

Kaiser Leigh.

World-famous singer and heartthrob.

So he has good taste in music.

It was another tick in the box, and I couldn’t help but love the way it almost fell to my knees, reminding me of just how built and broad Drake’s body was and how good it felt to be wrapped up in his arms. The last few years of being swept up in this life of chaos, it had become stability that I found myself craving. A place to feel safe, secure, and content, where I didn’t have to second-guess everything I said or constantly live in fear of doing anything that might cause a fight.

But how was it possible I was feeling that with a man I’d just met?

“Cassie?”

“Yeah! Sorry, tell me again.”

“We ended up meeting his friends at some pool hall. Something balls,” she tried to explain, though there was a definite shake of uncertainty to her voice. “These guys, Danny’s friends, they just make me feel weird, Cassie. I’m scared if I try to leave on my own, they’ll follow me.”

I didn’t even have to think about it.

“I’m coming. Make an excuse to go to the bathroom. Lock the door and don’t come out until I get there,” I ordered, buttoning my jean shorts and allowing the shirt to fall back over them before grabbing my phone and hurrying out of the bathroom and into the small living room. “Okay?”

“Okay,” she agreed.
