“A new assignment?”

“For a new assignment and a new life. I don’t know when I’ll be back.”

“So we’re reverting to no news is good news?”

“I’ll try to touch base when I can, but yeah, don’t bury me before I’m dead.” He winked.

“Anything I can do to help?”

“No. I’m doing this on my own.”

I brought my brother in for a tight hug and patted him on his back. “Be careful.”

“Thanks. Congrats, James.”

I watched as he pulled out of the driveway. My brother had been in love with Grace Wagner for years. They’d dated before Grace opened her salon, and I was certain they’d make it work eventually. Grace had left him, insisting their age gap and Hunter’s immaturity were too much to overcome. They’d remained friends, but my brother never stopped hoping

The kids passed out on the couch, and once everyone had left, my wonderful mother helped me clean up. I put the kids to their beds after everyone left, unbuttoned my shirt, and met my wife in the bathroom.

I took her by the hips and pressed her lips to mine. My heart whirred in tempo with the blood rushing through my veins. “Hello, Mrs. Silver.”

“Mrs. Silver? I didn’t know I was changing my last name.”

I grazed my hand over her neck and brushed my lips over hers. “That’s non-negotiable.”

“Anything else non-negotiable?” She wiggled in my hold.

“Clothing on our wedding night. Why are you wearing that robe?”

A smile tweaked her lips to the side. She stepped back and released the robe’s tie. “Will this do?”

She dropped the covering to the floor, and my hard-on went completely stiff at the sight of her negligée. The sheer fabric composed of straps and buckles left nothing to the imagination, yet hid everything I needed. I eyed the fastenings, calculating the quickest way to her skin. It wouldn’t be an easy task.

“No, but I know something that will.”

She squealed as I lifted her over my shoulder and carried her to my bed. I set her down on the sheets, shed my clothes, and climbed to the bed, hovering above her. “If you don’t tell me how to get this contraption off you—”

“There’s a latch which releases all the fastenings at once, but Grace said only three percent of men can find it.”

“Like a G-spot?”

Her face fell flat.

“What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know any statistic about G-spots.”

I laughed, sat up, and pulled my hands over her outfit.

“Let me assure you, I’m part of the statistic of men who know how to find one.”

Twelve seconds later, I pulled down on two hidden zippers underneath each arm. Her mouth dropped open while her eyes shone with pride.

“Come here.” She grabbed my neck and pulled me down to her body. “It’s time to consummate this marriage, Mr. Silver.”

I planned on nothing less, and definitely much more.
