“The first one isn’t even born yet, and you’re thinking of more?”

“Why waste time? Life is too short, and I want a family. With you.”

She reached out and tapped my nose with her finger. “We’re already a family. Speaking of which, have you called ours? Did you tell them we’re okay?”

“You’re kidding, right? I threatened them with restraining orders so they’d leave us alone for a few days.”

“They’re just worried.”

“I’m sorry I kept them out. I didn’t realize you wanted visitors.”

“Actually, I do appreciate the quiet. Reminds me of Costa Rica.”

“Sounds like a lot reminds you of Costa Rica.”

“Especially the wild man who took me there.”

I rose and crawled into her bed, squeezing in beside her. She cuddled into my side and placed her palm over my chest.

“Any way we could fly to Costa Rica before the baby arrives?”

“What about the salon?”

“I made Frankie a managing partner. I’m sure he can handle it. He runs the place anyway, and I’m just a name—which I will change, by the way.”

“Why change it?”

“Chad called me Gracie. It doesn’t feel right anymore.”

“Chad was deranged.”

“Do you think I should change it?”

“Whatever you choose will represent a strong businesswoman who perseveres. What Chad thought or what anyone else thinks doesn’t matter, because you’re more than a name, Grace. You’re my Queen, and I’m never letting you out of my sight again.”

“But Chad is dead.”

“Exactly what I’m trying to say. Fuck Chad. But I’m still not letting you out of my sight.”

She settled in my arms and let out a breathy exhalation.

“Hunter?”

“Yes?”

“I do need a vacation.”

“Me too.”

We metScar in the hospital parking lot. I held the door open for Grace, but Scar stopped me.

“She’s riding shotgun.”

“Something happened?”

“Nothing to worry about.”
