“Are you hungry?”

“Stop changing the subject, and no, I’m not hungry. I’m hormonal, frustrated, and….”

… and completely lost.

I hadn’t been this lost since Hunter left. Lightning streaked across the night sky, and thunder echoed in the distance.

“Orgasms release frustration, and your toys are still in the same spot.” He pointed upstairs, and I swatted at his hand.

“You looked through my drawers?”

“We both know your toys are not in a drawer.” He leaned back on his elbows as his abs caught the kitchen light, shining like a beacon.

Fuck, Hunter.

I wasn’t sure how long I’d last with him walking around like a bear and talking orgasms before I turned into a puddle.

“I don’t need toys. What I need is a new phone.”

And an orgasm.

“I already have one for you.”

“You do?”

“Why are you so surprised?” His shoulders shook with a chuckle. “I’ll do anything to help you get back on your feet.”

I looked down and smirked before lifting my gaze back to his toned abs and semi-hard dick. “I didn’t realize I’d fallen off my feet.”

“Anything else you need, Grace?”

I neededthat thingin his pants, that’s what I needed, and none of my toys had what he had. Thunder crashed closer to the house, and I jumped. Hunter rose and drew his hand down my arm, sending my hormones awry. He gave me that look—like he knew what I needed better than I knew myself.

“Join me in the solarium?” He gestured to the open door beyond the kitchen, where fairy lights flickered through the plants and flowers. Over the years, he’d transformed my gardens into an oasis.

“Yes.” A dry patch in my throat resisted my swallow. I sat down in one of the wicker chairs, and Hunter brought out the tea I’d brewed. He took his spot on the lounger and stretched out his bulky legs.

Long, lean, and strong.

I glanced sideways, wondering whether he was watching me, but his eyes were closed.

“I love this sound. It reminds me of home,” he said.

“Home?”

“The rainstorms are crazy in Costa Rica. Palms bend underneath the winds, and water runs wild down the mountains. Streams cascade down cliffs and waterfalls, filling the rivers, and the next day, the sun shines and life grows.”

“Sounds beautiful.”

“Would be more beautiful with you there.” He opened his eyes and turned sideways, his thick beard fluffy and shiny. I remained still as his voice curled through my body. “It was exactly what I needed after work.”

I’d forgotten he’d actually been working there, and from my understanding, his job took balls the size of a bear’s.

“Tell me about your work. What did you do in Costa Rica?”

“Jobs.”

“Did you have to kill anyone?”
