"Not old enough to call you daddy," she clarified with a smug grin.

"Stay away from my dad, Sam. He's off the market."

She gave my dad a once over as he talked to some of his team across the room.

"Pity."

Gold shook his head.

"Age doesn't make a daddy, Sam," he said, taking his now-full plate and walking away.

"Well, you could have you a man," I pointed out but she gave me a glare that promised pain if I continued that train of thought. "What, you can analyze my prospects but I can't yours?"

"Not a prospect," she sang out, packing up the leftovers into go boxes and lining the top of the display with them so the guys could take them home for later. She didn't protest as I helped her with dishes, obviously avoiding the guys again. I didn't even want to know what Dad said.

"You coming back with us, princess?" Brock called out as he walked into the kitchen.

"My stuff is still there," I admitted. "I'll swing by and grab it and go home."

"Why?"

I blinked at him, searching for a reason.

"Uh..."

"She'd love to come hang out," Sam said. "Right, Macy?"

"Why are we friends again?" I muttered with a glare. She snorted and waved me off.

"You don't get a say in the matter, I've claimed you, bestie," she said like it was simply a fact. The girl was nuts but dammit, I did enjoy hanging out with her and it was only day one.

"We'll play nice if you want us to," Brock agreed.

"Go on, bestie, conquer your fears... or more accurately, conquer those orgasms," she said without lowering her voice at all.

"I hate you," I groaned, tossing the last pan in the sink so it splashed. She laughed and waved me off, going back to her task and dismissing me completely.

"Bye, Sam," Brock called out with a bit too much excitement in his voice. We met up with Elias and Tate who were already waiting, all three of their bags in hand along with mine.

Dad gave us a wave as we walked toward the exit, but didn't caution me off of them.

My stomach was in knots as they once again helped me inside the truck like I was delicate, even buckling me in.

"I'm capable," I grumbled but Tate just leveled me with a look that told me he didn't care.

"You've got your dad working on things to up the team's visibility," he noted as he navigated onto the main road.

"What?" I asked. "Really?"

"He's got a whole mess of PR events for us to go to," Elias explained. "He cornered us before he offered to stick our balls to the ice if we hurt you." My jaw dropped open in horror. No he fucking didn't.

"Oh god," I groaned.

"That was only before he said he'd let the guys chase us on Zambonis while we struggled to get up," Tate added.

"Damn," I whistled. "Here I thought he was a big softy at heart."

"Give him five minutes with Luke," Tate pointed out.
