“A brutal criminal is on the loose. Residents in the Comet Canyon area are being asked to stay indoors. He is armed and dangerous. Wyatt Raider, brother to Ambassador Wyatt Rider, is charged with kidnapping, theft—”

“For fuck’s sake,” I growled, turning it off.

Theft, kidnapping, murder, stealing from an ambassador. Whoever Wyatt Raider was, they were bad news.

Now what? Four weeks and nothing had gone wrong until tonight. Now, there was a Rhomboan outlaw on the loose.

I pressed my lips into a thin line, drumming my nails on the vanity. I reached for my iced coffee, taking a sip as I contemplated what the best course of action would be.

We could cancel the show tonight and recoup the losses with a double show tomorrow. But I didn’t want to tire everyone out. The heat made two shows back to back impossible.

“We haven’t been told to shut down,” Max said. “And the Ambassador is a guest of ours tonight. A VIP. I’m sure his guards would urge us to cancel if they were actually worried.”

I hummed. He had a point.

“I’ll still perform,” Mari said. “I’m not concerned about some outlaw.”

My gaze raised, and the moment I met Mari’s sparkling eyes—my ears rang, my eyesight blurring as a vision came over me.

I saw rope. Rope and tassels, and a heart that yearned for another so poignantly that my own ached. I blinked, trying to focus on the figures, but I couldn’t make out anything.

Rope and tassels, leather and lace.

And so it will be.

“Madam.Madam!”

I came to, drawing in a startled breath. I was gripping the top of the vanity, my eyes wide. I shook my head, glitter falling off me as I did so.

These damn visions were becoming a nuisance lately. What exactly did the universe want me to do?

Well, part of it was clear…

“What the hell was that?” Max asked. “Do I need to get a doctor?”

“No,” I said. “No. It was just a vision. All I know is that, shoot out or not, the show must go on.”

CHAPTER1

Glitter Gunslinger

Mari

Don’t let me down.

My mama’s words always came to me at moments like this. It was a quick stab through the heart. My eyes burned for a fleeting second, but then I blinked them away, regaining composure.

My act was about to begin. Mentally, I ran through everything. Every movement, every piece of clothing that would be stripped. All my teasing smiles.

There was absolutely nothing in the universe that could ruin this moment for me.

I glanced to the side of the stage, seeing the other performers waiting there, watching and supporting. My best friend, Stella, stood with her two hunky alien mates. She winked at me and I winked back, her love for me soothing my nerves.

Everyone thought I didn’t get nervous, but she knew the truth. It didn’t matter how many shows I did, I wasn’t immune to that feeling right before going on.

In theory, our show shouldn’t be happening. An alien outlaw was on the loose, and yet not a single patron had canceled their ticket. We were the Galactic Gems, and nothing would stop us.

Nothing would stopme.
