“Mari!”

POW! POW!

I gasped and spun around, freezing in place.

Smoke curled from the barrels of two guns. I was no longer the only one on stage.

A large alien stood ten feet from me. They had four enormous arms, their skin appearing like gray stone. Hard and defined. Their back was like a large barrel, strapped with two leather bandoliers.

They wore a cowboy hat, boots, and chaps. I could see their perfect, chiseled ass cheeks and the long, ridged tail that curled around them—ending in a stinger.

They turned around slowly, all six eyes focusing on me.

I gasped, but I stood my ground. They held two guns, but also rope in their other hands. They swung it, creating a loop above their hat.

I did the only thing I could think of. The music continued even as the crowd screamed, clearly confused on if the intruder was part of the show or not.

My fingers slipped into my vest and I pulled out my guns.

Glitter guns, but they wouldn’t know that. Right?

Theylaughed. It was deep and made my heart beat so fast it felt like it would fall out of my chest.

Fuck.

“Run!” Stella shouted.

I cursed under my breath and pulled the triggers, aiming for their face. Glitter burst from the guns, raining down in a curtain of sparkling confetti.

I took off, running backstage. It was chaos everywhere; the music faltered as everyone seemed to realize thatno—the assless-chap wearing alien was not part of the show.

Rope suddenly wrapped around my torso and I screamed as they dragged me back. It tightened around me even as I struggled against it, and suddenly I was slamming into the hard body of the alien.

“Do what I say, sugar, and you won’t get hurt.”

Fuck that. I growled and kicked as they lifted me, their voice raising over the crowd. They wrestled me against them, two arms tight and unmoving. The cold barrel of a gun pressed to my temple, and I went still, breathing hard.

Fuck. I don’t want to die.

“Anyone moves and Little Miss Mercury dies!”

The screams were no longer the fun kind.

“It’s Raider!”

“It’s the outlaw!”

“It’s the criminal, Raider!”

My heart dropped.

The alien outlaw.

I’d just heard about him on the news moments before our show tonight.

“Unhand her, you fiend!”

Another alien, one that looked similar to him, leapt onto the stage. The VIP.
