“I’m yours,” I repeat between my moans of pleasure.I love yourepeats over and over in my head. I want to be brave and say the words out loud, but my brain is too focused on the magic of his hands and the way his cock is hitting me just right.

He rubs my clit. An orgasm rocks through my body, stealing all air and thought from me. My body bucks as I keep coming. Scott holds me down, moving faster as he chases his release too.

I feel the heat of his release inside me. His grunts of pleasure have me reaching out and dragging my nails down his stomach. His cock twitches.

Breathing heavy, Scott falls onto my body, causing me to huff out a laugh. His weight feels good. Still in a fog of complete satisfaction, I wrap my arms around him, drawing him as close as I can.

I love youis on the tip of my tongue. But I hold back.

Turning his head toward mine, he gives me a smile that lights up my entire being before closing the distance and kissing me gently.

Everything is perfect. Until it’s not.

Chapter Eleven

Scott

Looking at Elyssa’s glowing face and sweet smile, there’s no denying I love this woman. My heart clenches at the overwhelming emotion.

I need to tell her.

My mouth opens, my heart on my sleeve, when a sudden noise has us both jumping. A loud alert rings out through the room, coming from my cell. I recognize the alert immediately and pull out of Elyssa’s arms.

“It’s the mountain rescue alert,” I tell her, needing her to know why I’m breaking our afterglow snuggle. A moment later, my cell starts to ring with an incoming call.

“Seb, what’s happening?” I’m out of bed and reaching for my pants before he can even start speaking. I know these late-night calls never occur unless there’s a dire situation and I’m needed for a rescue.

“We have two people stranded on the north ridge. Males both in their late fifties and one is injured. The snow and sleet are causing visibility issues. We’re calling in reinforcements.”

“I’ll be there as soon as I can.” I open my mouth, about to apologize, but Elyssa beats me to it.

“Don’t worry about it. Go. They need you.”

After throwing a shirt over my head, I lean over and kiss her, silently thanking her. Then, with hurried steps, I head to the front door, grabbing my emergency bag for calls just like this and my heavy-duty jacket.

“Stay here,” I find myself saying. My tone can be taken as both a demand and a suggestion. “Stay here,” I repeat. “I’ll be back as soon as I can and I want you waiting for me in my bed.”

Agreeing, she quickly runs to me and gives me a kiss on the lips.

“Be safe.”

The frigid night air hits me like a punch as I make my way to my car. Snow is falling at a rapid pace and I have to squint to see where I’m going. The sun had only set an hour ago from my estimate, but it was still unusual that people had chosen today to hike. The weather forecast hadn’t called for snow like this, but the temperature drop should have been deterrent enough.

I make it to the hangar in under fifteen minutes. With my adrenaline pumping, the chill of the winter fades from my consciousness. I’m focused and ready for action.

There’s a flurry of activity as the rescue team and all the volunteers gather to get their gear and directives. Sebastian is at the front of it all, shouting out orders and noting things down on a clipboard. When he spots me, he motions to me and hands the papers to another man beside him.

“Visibility is shit so we’re making this a ground rescue. We need you in case we have to winch someone down the side of the ridge. The weather’s getting worse and we’ve had some volunteers unable to get up the mountain to base. We’re going to have to head out short-handed. It’s not ideal but we’re working against the clock at this point.”

“We’ve got two hours max before the storm gets worse and the wind velocity picks up,” I add, knowing we have no time to waste.

“Exactly.” Sebastian slaps me on the back. “Gear up and we’ll head up. Let’s get these men off the mountain and safe.”

In my high-visibility jumpsuit, I sling my gear backpack over my shoulder and make a run for the idling Jeep Sebastian is waiting for me in. We’re not even five minutes into the drive before everything goes to shit.
