A shadow fell over us, and we both lifted our heads. Gabriel was standing at the end of the sun loungers, hands on his hips and a scowl on his face. “You done touching my wife yet? Or should I come back later?”

Jude’s eyes sparked with mischief before he lifted my hand to his mouth and placed a kiss on the back of it. I bit my bottom lip to stop the laugh that wanted to escape.

Gabriel growled, and Jude finally released my hand, but not before winking at me.

“Oliver is looking for you.” Gabriel fixed his brother with a raised brow. “And you’re once again not answering your phone.”

Unperturbed, Jude got up, stretching. Gabriel’s barely suppressed anger was clear in the tight lines of his face and his flaring nostrils. Jude pulled his T-shirt on, grin still on his face. “I was on my lunch break.”

“It’s three in the afternoon.”

“I can take my break whenever I want. And I wanted to check on Vanna. Make sure you haven’t scared her away yet.”

Gabriel’s face turned thunderous. Not wanting to clean up blood spills, I left my comfortable lounge chair, fitting myself to his side. His face smoothed out as soon as I made contact, and his arm wound around my waist, holding me to him. His attention turned to me, as it tended to do whenever I was close. I’d never felt more seen or loved. “Hello, wife.”

I turned my head back, and he pressed his lips to mine in a soft kiss. “Hello, husband.”

Jude gagged. “Gross. I’m out. Vanna, you have my number.”

Gabriel ignored his brother while I called out a quick goodbye over my shoulder before turning my attention back to the man currently looking at me like I was a tasty dessert.

He’d done nothing more than hold me every night and give me soft kisses. As soon as things promised to heat up, he’d stop.

I knew he blamed himself for what happened, his face darkening whenever he looked at my bruises and stitches, his apologies filled with self-hate. And no matter how much I told him it wasn’t his fault—because it wasn’t—he still couldn’t forgive himself.

But I had to know if he still wanted me. And we had to find a way to put the past behind us. No more regrets and wishing we could change the past. All we could do was move forward. Together.

I stepped back and pulled on the strings holding my bikini top in place. The small scrap of fabric tumbled to the ground. I was still self-conscious about the scars on my back. But I felt comfortable with Gabriel. And that told me just how much he meant to me and how much I needed him.

Gabriel watched me with heated eyes, the dark blue thick with desire. My bottoms were next. He didn’t hesitate to reach for me, and I found myself pressed against his clothed body.

He placed his lips on my neck, making his way to my shoulder. I turned my head to the side to allow him more access. “You’re overdressed.”

Instead of answering, he laid me down on the pool lounger, then stepped back and slowly unbuttoned his shirt, his eyes never leaving mine. Emboldened by the desire I saw on his face, I trailed a hand to my breasts, pinching my nipple.

He let out a growl, ripping off the rest of his clothes before crawling onto the lounger, suspended above me.

He nipped the skin on my shoulder, and my body reacted immediately, a hot flush burning through me. “I’m feeling much better. And I want all of you.Needall of you. I want us to be what we used to.”

His hands found my breasts, brushing against my nipples, then pinching them. “I want that too. More than anything. But are you sure you’re ready?”

“Please.”

My plea was met with a growl. His hand wandered down my body, and I shuddered. One of his fingers entered me, forcing a whimper out of me.

He rained kisses on any part of my skin he could reach. By the time he pushed a second finger into me, I was panting with need.

If I’d known all it would take for him to do more than kiss me was to take my clothes off, I’d have done it the night we came home. Not that I would have been in any condition to do more than make out.

I clutched his arm, writhing in ecstasy. The need to have him inside me burned bright, and I couldn’t form words, the only sounds escaping little whimpers.

Fitting himself between my legs, his hands gripping my ass, he lifted me. And then his mouth was on me, licking and sucking.

My release hit me so suddenly that all I could do was ride it out. All the pent-up need of the last week crashed over me in a wave too forceful to hold off.

Gabriel continued stroking me through my orgasm, only letting up when I was lying spent, my limbs too heavy to hold me up.

Chuckling, he placed a soft kiss against the scar on my belly. The sweet action was such a contrast to what we’d just done, it sent tears to my eyes.
