“Such a good fucking girl.” Orion stares over my glistening body with so much possession my heart punches my throat.

Still, he works me, drawing out another aftershock with a thumb on my clit and a palm nestled between my legs.

“Never letting you go,” he says huskily.

My defenses are melted.

I can’t argue. Can’t protest.

All I can do is watch him through fluttering lashes while he follows through on every single thing he promised.

He wipes me with a warm washcloth, finger-combs my hair, and then spoons me against him before wrapping us in blankets and pillows in a perfect cozy nest.

I’m safe for the first time I can remember, with his soft breath tickling my ear. “Sleep. No one can hurt you while I’m here.”

Orion asked for nothing.

Gave me everything.

And I don’t think I’m ever going to recover.

TWENTY-THREE

LILAH

I wake to a new world.

I’m snuggled into Orion’s warm chest, my arms locked around his neck, and my legs hugging his hips.

Orion smooths my hair and I’m floating in pure heaven until my memories kickstart.

I go rigid.

“It’s okay.” He keeps stroking, voice soft. “Still got you.”

That’s what I’m worried about.

I don’t regret a thing.

I want to do it all again. And more.

But we should’ve talked before my hormones hijacked the conversation. “The pack—”

“It’s just you and me, koala bear.”

“Koala?” Ugh. Those things are creepy—with those little weird beak snouts.

Orion sits up, pulling me with him. When he lets go of my back, I don’t slip because I’m clinging to him like I’m climbing a phone pole.

He bites my nose. “Koala.”

My flush has nothing to do with heat.

This swimmy, dizzy, delicious feeling?

Pretty sure it’s happiness.

But it sours when I remember what I have to say. “This doesn’t mean anything for the pack.”
