Used to be old money. Now she’s a designer bag at the thrift store, slowly crumbling under too much makeup.

A sound rumbles in my chest.

I’ve been making the weirdest freaking noises. Whimpers and squeaks and little kitten mewls that I didn’t know I had in me until the guys touched me just right.

This is another world-debut sound, only it’s not a kitten noise.

It’s the warning of a predator.

A jagged growl that doesn’t come from my throat. It rips from deep in my chest. The feral, protective omega snarl fierce enough to cow an alpha.

I’ve only heard the noise in videos because there are only two ways to really, really piss off an omega.

Come after their mates.

Come after their young.

Renee came for more than that.

Because of her, my childhood went off the rails and into a swamp.

And what she did to Jett—

I’m already in the ring.

It’s destiny.

I point at her with a finger like a sword and lift my voice so loud they can hear it all the way to the OCC. “I challenge Renee.”

THIRTY-THREE

LILAH

“This isn’t a place for civilians.” Scorpio dismisses my request.

I dismiss his dismissal. “I’m challenging her for being a fucking monster.”

“Lilah,” Scorpio growls a warning.

My shoulders tingle under the weight of his command. I want to shrink, but I’m not backing down, I—

A wall bumps me from behind.

Atlas lifts me a foot off the ground to hug me under his chin. His pack leader juice flows into my veins, lending me his strength.

Suddenly, I can stand as tall as I want.

I’m levitating.

“Atlas,” Scorpio barks. “Get her out of the ring.”

Scorpio’s dominance usually grinds me into the floor. Now it rolls past. The only tingle in my body is the one from Atlas’s breath on my neck.

“Why her?” Atlas whispers, not stopping me, just lending his support.

I can hardly look at the woman, so I look at Jett instead.

I don’t have to say anything. All I do is tilt Atlas’s chin so he sees what I’m seeing.
