Tonight, I’m paying back what she owes. “You want to change?”
“No.” Renee tosses her purse and kicks off her heels. She looks like a ring girl in a teal bodycon sheath, but when she meets me center stage, her posture relaxes into a practiced stance.
She’s terrified of the Wyverns, but she’s not even a little afraid of me.
Gonna have fun fixing that attitude.
“No guns in the ring.” Scorpio sighs, looking thirty years older than when I crashed the cage.
“Oh.” I only brought three. I hand them to Atlas, expecting a lecture.
Instead, he checks that they’re not loaded, tucks them away, and sets his palm on my head. “Fuck her up.”
I blink. “What if I go to prison?”
“How?” Atlas softly strokes my ear, wearing a fond smile that doesn’t match his crazy talk. “Police will never find her body.”
Good to fucking know.
Confident I can get away with murder, I strut to the center of the ring. “Ready?”
Renee pushes a breath through her bleached teeth. “Do I have a choice?”
“Nope.”
Scorpio rubs his forehead. “Fight.”
The bell rings.
I lunge.
Renee ducks.
She’s the typical rich girl omega, so she’s spent time training self-defense.
Good.
The fight will last longer.
I fake a punch, then kick, knocking her into the cage wall.
She hisses. “Is this really necessary?”
“You screwed with my records. Why?”
Renee’s gaze flicks side to side. “I did what I was paid to do.”
I kick at her stomach. She catches my ankle, blocking the blow, but she’s too slow when I follow up with a crack to her jaw.
My knuckles burn so good.
Renee stumbles, turning to Scorpio with doe eyes—only Bambi shouldn’t have done so many hard drugs, because she looks more insane than ingenue.
For the first time in my life, the ref’s on my side. I don’t think Scorpio would step in if I cut Renee open and ate her heart.
I yank her to her feet. “Who paid you?”
