I took the tip of his cock in my mouth, humming as I did. His whole body jerked, and he spoke my name on a shout. I smiled around my mouthful and focused on my work. Although I never liked it before, I loved knowing I could make him feel good. I bent further, taking him as far down my throat as I could manage. Where I couldn’t fit him, I stroked the remainder with my hand. Over and over again, until I found a motion that had him panting on the bed.

I never heard so many curses in my life as Ransom spewed but he never once asked me to stop. The way that he throbbed in my mouth told me it wouldn’t be long until he was right where I wanted him to be.

Minutes passed. He tasted salty and like a man. I relished the taste, wanting more, wishing I could always feel this gloriously feminine, every day. This wanted. This…

He came all at once, his moan filling the room as Ransom let himself go. I sucked him down, every drop, until he went soft in my hands.

Finally, when I would have pulled away, Ransom snagged me under the armpits and dragged me upward, swapping our positions until I lay beneath him in moments.

He kissed me, a hard and claiming slash of his mouth against mine, and I let myself get lost in it. “That was…beyond my imagination,” he admitted.

I grinned at him. “Then I’m very glad that I did it.”

His slow smile held heat that made my toes curl. He practically growled, “But we’re not done. We’re not even close to done.”

We weren’t? “Ransom, you’re probably going to need some recovery time.”

“Am I?” He lifted an eyebrow. “Or did you forget that I’m…enhanced?”

I laughed, throwing my head back. “Oh, the ego. I think even you…”

But I was wrong. In seconds, he sheathed himself inside of me. I cried out, both from surprise and the pleasure that surged through me. Yes, having him go wild beneath me turned me on, and he was exactly what I needed, even if I thought it would be a while until I could have it.

I dug my fingers into his back, arching into the sensations. “Remind me to never question your prowess. Ever.”

“That’s right.” He slowed down his movements, nuzzling at my jawline. “I’m not hurting you, right?”

Lines appeared next to his eyes when he met my gaze. He’s really worried. “You can’t hurt me, Ransom. Take me. Make me yours, any way you want.”

He did just as I asked. Soon, I found myself pressed against the headboard of the bed, his hand behind my head to protect me from hitting the wood as he pressed himself into me. Over and over, he moved in and out of me. We cried out together, animalistic moans and grunts as we climbed ever higher. Maybe I moaned, maybe he did. It didn’t matter. I lost all sense of time. I just needed him to keep doing what he was doing. Then, suddenly, with one final jerk, I came apart in his arms. Thank goodness he had his hand where he did because I lost the ability to hold up my head, and all my muscles gave out as he spilled inside of me.

Ransom held onto me, eventually pulling me against his shoulder. I breathed heavily and so did he.

“Butterfly…” He finally managed to speak, and I lifted my head, somehow, to regard him. “There are those eyes.”

I shook my heavy head, smiling despite my body being utterly languid. “You are the one with the eyes, Ransom. Those blue ones. They’re almost unreal, they’re so beautiful.”

“Everything about you is unreal.” He kissed the end of my nose. “Every little thing.”

I kissed him and we both closed our eyes. It wasn’t time to sleep but I just needed to breathe, right there, with Ransom holding me like I was the most precious thing in the world.

“I need to see Raine.” I turned to Ransom as I walked out of the bathroom. “Can you tell me where I can find her? She was going to someone’s home who has a baby.”

My hair was wet, and I quickly braided it. Despite disliking the hairstyle due to it being one of Clarke’s rules for us, it was still one of the easiest ways to ensure it wouldn’t get in my way, and I’d be damned if I let him dictate my hairstyles, including what I wouldn’t wear.

It was easy to braid it, so screw you, Clarke.

“She started off at one of the human s’ houses, one with five children. The Millers, if I remember correctly, but when they all got croup, we thought it best to move her and the infant. She’s staying with Gator and his group, at the moment—Gator, Seven, Darkness, and Shade. She’s living with them, and everyone seems happy enough. We can go see her.”

I stared at him. “Raine was okay with staying with a bunch of men? After what happened with Net…”

He nodded. “She seems to be. Gator offered to put her anywhere she wanted, and she asked to stay with them. For whatever reason, she likes them. I can’t blame her. They were and are very nice people.” He walked over and whispered in my ear. “I think they’ve gotten protective of her and the baby very quickly.”

Well…that was a good thing. As long as Raine was happy.

“Oh. ” He stepped back. “ Hold on. The townspeople dropped off clothes for you. You don’t have to keep wearing the same two outfits. Be right back.”
