Who knows what he would have done with what he found?

I sure as fuck don’t.

David jumps out of his car, slinging a gym bag over his shoulder as he blows past me without a proper greeting.

“You’re early,” he grumbles, unlocking his door. “Hang out for a minute. I need to shower.”

“Hello. How’s it going? Sure. No problem. I’ll totally sit in the living room while you shower.”

I roll my eyes as he walks away without another word.

Being here is dreadful. David is by far the worst person I’ve ever had in my weekly rotation. At first, I thought it was just awkward for him, but he’s only gotten worse. The experience with him is nothing like falling asleep on the couch with Kane, or sharing secrets over ice cream with Riley... Or even bickering in the car with Lory.

Not that I need to be petted and worshiped all the time... But a little attention goes a long way in showing a woman that she’s wanted.

As soon as I hear the shower turn on, water splashing as he bathes, I quietly slink down the hallway. There are three doors, and I open the bedroom on the left that hides his messy office.

My stolen laptop sits atop his completely trashed desk, open but turned off. I go to grab it when I notice the stack of papers beside it and stop dead in my tracks.

The top page is all of my information. My social security number, bank accounts, address, and even the code for the garage... The following pages contain everything from my past vehicles to known associates.

Riley’s name is there, with pages itemizing his life. Lory too, though he has fewer details. Kane has nothing in this stack, which eases my guilt, but only marginally.

As I shuffle through the stack, I find a few pictures, and Kane definitely hasn’t been left out of those. The angles are from outside my apartment window.

My bedroom window.

“This fucker,” I whisper to myself, enraged by his audacity.

I lay the papers across the keyboard of my laptop before quickly searching for anything else broadcasting our names. Organized chaos be damned. I’m practically throwing shit around as I dig through it.

And that’s how I find a few stray pages on Jasper with my picture clipped to them.

He’s figured me out.

How, though?

It shouldn’t matter right now, but it does…

It matters more than anything.

Because it’s the final straw for me. This just sealed his fate.

David Arlington has to die.

I step out of the office, laptop tucked under my arm, and shut the door with barely a click. Fury radiates through my veins, but it also brings a sense of calmness with it. I feel like a fool, like I’ve been played, though I can’t say why this situation is bothering me more than I was expecting… Other than David having too much information about the people around me.

I know exactly what I need to do, which makes me level-headed rather than impulsive.

The water is still running, but he won’t stay in the shower much longer. I hustle through his small house and out the front door, depositing my laptop in the backseat of my car. I cover with a discarded jacket to keep it hidden from prying eyes.

As I walk through the front door, I send Riot a speedy text.

Me: Got the laptop. David knows who I am.

His response is immediate, sent before I can even close the door behind me.

Sprinkles: How? You didn’t tell him...
