Carm scoffs a laugh and I shake my head as I slip my coat on. “I’m not a mobster.”

She slants me a disbelieving look. “What would you call your job occupation then?”

“An entrepreneur.”

Luca huffs a laugh and I grab Ares’ snowsuit to put it back on so we can leave. Luca waves a hand at me. “I’ve got him. You guys go.”

Casimira raises a brow and Luca rolls his eyes. “Go have a child-free lunch, we'll hang here.” He tilts his head to catch Ares’ eyes. “You don't wanna go to a boring restaurant, do you? You wanna chill with the boys.” Ares makes an incoherent bubbling sound and Cas laughs, sets his diaper bag on the table in front of Luca. “Lunch is in there. Don't let him do anything unsafe.”

“Ahh that's a shame, we were just going to let him play with our guns weren't we Carm?”

Carms nods solemnly. “Yeah, really fucked with our plans there, Cas.”

She gives both of them a scathing look but I don't miss the slight underlying amusement. She kisses Ares and takes my hand to follow me up to street level. The restaurant is only a short journey so we decide to walk. I've got a thing for the city in the snow.

We get out onto the street and it’s coming down in soft flurries, the winter sun hanging low in the sky. She pulls her coat closed and lets out a sigh.

“What's wrong?”

Her eyes find mine and they look a little distant. “You know me too well at this point.” She lets out a chuckle just as a police car with its sirens on flies past, making her jump. I put my hand on her waist and move her to the side, taking her place on the roadside of the sidewalk.

“It’s Micheal’s rehearsal dinner next week. I just feel bad that I won't be there.”

“If you really want to go, we can. I'll make time.”

She smiles at me but it doesn’t reach her eyes. I know why she doesn’t want to go back to London. The trauma is still too fresh.

She waves a hand in the air like she’s swatting away the idea. “No, I don't want to risk it. It just feels like I’m letting Michael down.”

I put my arm around her shoulders as we walk. “I'm sure he will understand.”

“Yeah.” She says letting out another sigh, clouded breath following.

“I need to go to Colombia on Tuesday,” I say as I give her shoulders a little squeeze.

Her eyebrows knit together as she peers up at me. “Why?”

“I need to meet with the drug cartels over there to speak about business. Nothing to worry about”

She nods. “How long will you be gone?”

“Just a couple of days. You and Ares are coming with us.”

She stops walking, a smile brightening her face. “Really? That will be Ares’ first holiday.”

I let out a laugh. “Won't be much of a holiday for me.”

“You work too much.” She tells me.

I shake my head and motion towards the restaurant. “Come on, it's cold.” She grins at me taking a few rushed steps to catch up to me.

“Are you joking?” Casimira asks as she stares open-mouthed at the private jet. I put the car in park slanting her a smug look. She looks from me to the jet and back to me. “We’re flying in that?”

“You really think we would fly commercial?”

She shakes her head. “Yeah, of course you'd have a jet.” She says more to herself than me.
