“I don’t know if this is a good idea,” Chelsea admitted, her breathing already rapid against his lips. She wanted him more than even he knew, but she didn’t want to risk a relapse when he’d been making so much progress.

“I think it’s a great idea.”

“I know how therapy works, Redmond. She won’t want you making any big life decisions for a while. At least until you readjust to yourself.”

Was she crazy to be bringing this up when she ached so much for him? She throbbed from want, but she cared too much about him to ignore what he needed.

Redmond shook his head and nipped at her bottom lip before pulling away just enough to drive her wild. “We’ve had sex before,” he told her, his eyes blazing. “Having sex again won’t be a change. I think…” Redmond moved his mouth to the side of her neck and ran his tongue upward, transitioning to taunting kisses as he reached the sensitive spot beneath her ear. She shuttered. “It’ll help me let off some steam.”

“Red,” she moaned, unable to put forth a protest when his hands moved to the skin of her waist. While his lips pressed delicately against the base of her throat, all thinking became forfeit to desire, and Chelsea knew that controlling her urges had just become impossible.

“Chelsea,” he moaned in her ear. The shudder exploded through her body and acted as an unleashing.

She moved her hands to the back of his neck and forced his lips to find hers. Redmond needed no more invitation than that as he lifted her by the waist and helped her sit on the countertop. He moved one hand to the still-clothed spot above her most sensitive area, pressing down through her clothes. She jerked and bucked into his hand as he watched her intently.

Chelsea met his eyes, and her first moan escaped her, barreling through her lips with a force that she couldn’t have controlled even if she’d wanted to. She ground harder into his hand, craving his touch.

They continued like that for long minutes until Chelsea could no longer control her panting and bucking hips—until it became almost essential for him to finally claim her. That’sallshe wanted. A hard claiming. She’d missed out on it for over a month, despite how much she’d craved him for all that time.

Finally.

In one fluid motion, Chelsea raised her shirt over her head and allowed it to flutter to the ground. A sound in the back of Redmond’s throat reverberated through his lips and into her mouth. Chelsea breathed it in greedily. She breathed in all his sounds.

The front door to his house opened, and Chelsea pulled back, panting for breath.

“Who’s here?” she asked, not hesitating to jump from the counter. That ache between her legs persisted greedily as she reached for her shirt. She couldn’t contain the slight flash of panic that roiled through her. The last time someone uninvited entered her home, she’d been tortured. She wasn’t inside her home this time, but the panic still manifested.

“Shit, Courtney gave me Kaitlyn for the night so she could go out.”

Chelsea rushed to put back on her shirt and flatten it to herself, and she accomplished it just in time. Kaitlyn rushed into the room, carrying an overnight bag and wearing a wide smile. Chelsea worked hard to catch her breath as Kaitlyn shifted from foot-to-foot, glancing between Chelsea and Redmond.

Chelsea never expected children to ruin her sex life, but she couldn’t bring herself to be upset. Not when Kaitlyn looked so unbelievably excited to be there.

“Hey, Katy girl,” Redmond greeted, matching her smile.

“Hi, Daddy. Hi, Chelsea.” She waved profusely, bouncing on her toes as she rushed into Redmond’s open arms. The love and patience on his face warmed Chelsea. Kaitlyn rushed toward her next, and Chelsea gave her just as big a hug as Redmond had. It surprised Chelsea how much the child had warmed to her after only one evening together.

As Kaitlyn rushed toward her room, Courtney came around the corner, walking in as if she had a million times before. When Courtney met Chelsea’s gaze, her cheeks immediately reddened. “Oh, my goodness, I’m sorry for just walking inside without knocking. I just wanted to make sure you saw Kaitlyn before I leave.”

Chelsea didn’t know how to react to his ex-wife walking right into his home. She’d never seen a split couple who got along as well as Redmond and Courtney, so it felt odd to her that they managed the co-parenting thing so well.

“You’re not intruding,” Redmond said unconvincingly. She felt his irritation and knew the cause had been sexual. Chelsea hated to admit that she felt a slight sexual frustration as well, but Courtney didn’t know that.

“You’re really not intruding,” Chelsea agreed. “We’re always happy to have you here. I’m Chelsea. It’s nice to meet you.” She walked forward and offered a hand to Courtney.

Courtney’s expression lightened almost immediately as she gripped Chelsea’s hand and shook it. “It’s so nice to meet you, too. Kaitlyn couldn’t stop talking my ear off about you after her last visit.”

Chelsea chuckled. They had certainly gotten along better than anticipated. “You have a brilliant little girl.”

Courtney nodded. “She really is wonderful, isn’t she?”

Chelsea heard as Redmond left the room, and she wanted to laugh out loud at the discomfort on his face. The man had been all but begging for sex, and the moment Chelsea decided to put out, they’d been interrupted. Chelsea still felt the moisture between her thighs and the slight ache from her longing, but she could still manage with the slight discomfort.

“You did a wonderful job with her,” Chelsea complimented.

The second Redmond had fully exited the room, Courtney stepped closer, her face growing serious as she gripped Chelsea’s arm. In a hushed tone, she spoke. “Redmond has gone through a lot, and I’m sure he’s told you about some of it. Whatever you’re doing is helping him more than you can even imagine, Chelsea.”

Chelsea furrowed her brows, but she couldn’t argue with Courtney. Something was helping Redmond improve—motivating him to continue his therapy—and it seemed to be her. He’d barely been surviving on the first night she came to his house. Even before that, Chelsea imagined that he’d been just as miserable.
