He’s worn out and tired, but in the best possible way. It doesn't matter how many times he’s with Scarlett, it’s never enough. He’d lost count of the number of times they’d had sex over the last few hours, only taking a break when they both fell asleep, exhausted and satisfied.

He scrubs a hand over his face and opens his eyes, wincing as the winter sun hits him through the window. The clock on the bedside table reads three-thirty in the afternoon.

Scarlett climbs back up the stairs, carrying a tray laden with her famous Irish breakfast. ‘That smells good.’

‘I thought you could do with something to recharge you. You’ve had a busy night.’ She places the tray on the table beside the bed, then climbs in beside him.

‘It was quite an impressive evening all right!’

She laughs, passing him a cup of coffee. ‘Oh it was way beyond impressive. Nick?’

He swallows his mouthful of bacon before answering. ‘Yeah?’

‘When I said in my letter that I want you, you know what I meant, right?’

‘So it wasn’t just my body you were missing?’

She nudges him in the side. ‘Not just that, no. I know it makes no sense, but I really like you.’

He frowns at that. ‘Charming.’

‘No! I meant really, really, like you, after only knowing you for a few days.’

‘I’m just kidding. Seriously though, I feel the same. The last year has been a blur of fighting, and pretty much doing whatever I could, to not think about you. Total fail though. The whole fucking workshop knows I was moping about you.’

‘You were moping?’

‘Apparently.’ He turns to face her. ‘When I lost my wife and daughter... I didn’t think I’d be interested in anything serious again. And I’m still not sure bringing you into my chaotic world is a good thing. But I want to see where this will go.’

‘So do I. I tried to get over you the last year. But I failed miserably. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. Infuriating man!’

‘You know that’s the second time I’ve been called that in as many days.’

‘Eve?’

‘Who else.’

‘So what happens now?’

‘What I would like, is to stay here with you until tomorrow. Then, I have to get back to the workshop, or else my magic will go nuts with me again. But, I’m sincerely hoping I won't be going back alone. I’d like you to stay in Lapland with me for a few weeks if you can? Just see how things go. I have to do the run, then I’ll be out of it for a week and a bit, but waking up to you there, would be a dream come true.’

‘Really? You want me to come back with you?’
