Scarlett finishes hercoffee and closes the laptop. Dani had sent her some files to work on until she goes back in a few days. The plan is to spend a week at home, before coming back to the workshop and her new life with Nick.

Dani is nearly as excited about the move as Scarlett is. Apparently, she is taking credit for the whole situation. Without her pushing Scarlett to contact Nick, they would never have got back together again. She isn’t going to ruin it for her by saying that the Boogeyman had a hand in it too!

Not that Dani would believe her for one second. Just like she wouldn’t believe Scarlett is moving in with Santa. Nick lives in Finland and that’s where she’s moving. Dani and the rest of her friends had accepted that without question.

And it’s not like she’s leaving her life behind for good. She’ll be back and forth between Lapland and Ireland regularly.

She checks the time and stretches. Time for a break. Scarlett closes her office door and walks along the corridor to the main workshop. Nick had given her a room in the new building that she could use for work, and she loves it. It was nice to get back to work again after the break.

She'd spent most of the last week with Nick, taking advantage of the fact that, for the moment, no one seems to want to kill him, or kidnap her. The time was spent in bed mostly. Nearly two weeks of rest had given Nick a ferocious appetite, and she was more than happy to help him satisfy it.

During the brief times they weren't having sex, she'd helped Talen make his living quarters more homely. Nick and Eve had assigned him a room in the new wing, but that was as far as their generosity went. Apart from a bed and a chair, he had nothing except the odd mismatched pieces he brought from his old cabin.

After a bit of convincing and sweet talking, Nick had made sure she was able to spruce up the room with other items from spare rooms. Even though Nick and Eve speak to him, there aren't many others in the workshop who do. Hopefully in time that will change, but he'll have to earn the trust of a lot of people first.

Until then, Scarlett is happy to spend as much time as possible with him. She enjoys his company immensely. He shares his many books with her, and takes the time to explain this new world in a way she understands.

The dining room is occupied by a handful of people, who all greet her when she enters. Nick’s workers have accepted her, making her feel like one of the family, which she really appreciates. She hasn’t met anyone in the workshop she doesn’t get on with.

Scarlett makes herself a sandwich, carrying the plate over to an empty table, so she can check a few emails on her phone. She doesn’t know when she’ll be seeing Nick today. He was up before her this morning, so he could spend the day training with the rest of the team. It’s something they do regularly and, even though she’s not thrilled about him going out to fight, the fact they train often, makes her feel a little better about it.

Ten minutes later, her peace is interrupted when the team pile into the dining room, talking noisily as they help themselves to food.

Nick is the last one to enter, his serious expression melting to a smile when he sees her. ‘Hey there, sexy,’ he says, sitting down opposite her.

‘Hey there, Santa.’

Instead of his usual red trousers and white top, he's wearing darker red along with a black top. He's also wearing a leather holster over his shoulders, a gun resting under each arm, and a sheath with his sword hanging on his belt.

He frowns as she takes a few minutes to look at his outfit. ‘What?'

'Sorry?'

'You look confused.’

‘I just wasn't expecting all that,' she says, pointing to him.

'All what?'
