Reve looks around the table, before focusing on Damon again. ‘What? Now?’

‘When would you prefer to try? After he’s dead?’

Reve mutters under his breath, but lifts his hands out in front of him. His eyes turn yellow, as he spins his hands creating a ball of glowing golden sand. Everyone stays quiet as Reve stares into the ball for what feels like a fucking eternity.

Damon is itching to tell him to get a move on, but he’d be less than impressed if someone did that to him while he was working. In fact he’d probably kill them, or at least consider it, depending on his mood.

Finally Reve blinks and the ball of sand dissipates. ‘Nothing.’

‘What do you mean nothing?’ Eve asks, getting there before him. ‘How can there be nothing? Does that mean he’s dead?’

Reve shakes his head. ‘It just means I can’t get a read on him. He’s there, but I don’t know where there is. Something is blocking him from me. Like there’s a wall around him.’

‘Which means what exactly?’ Flint asks, surprising everyone. The Horseman isn’t known for doing much talking.

‘Which means he’s alive, but that’s all I know.’

‘That’s a great start though.’ Eve looks over at Damon and smiles. ‘What’s your plan?’

Damon pulls his attention away from Eve’s blue eyes, and looks along the length of the table. ‘The plan is to find him before someone else does. Spread out. Search land, sea, and air. When he uses his magic, one of us should be able to trace him.’

She smiles a little, appearing somewhat relieved to hear him say that. They will be able to pick up on his magic. He knows that. But a lot depends on Nick being alive in the first place, and being strong enough to use the amount of magic it’ll take for them to find him.

Another thought hits Damon as he stands and leaves the room. Whoever did this to Nick is still out there. Not only are they up against it time wise with Christmas and Nick’s magic, they’re also in a race to find him before the other party does, and finishes what they started, if they haven’t done so already.

Nick stretches outon the couch, trying to get his body to relax. It’s mostly down to his magic. He’s buzzing, the surplus energy making him twitchy as hell, seriously uncomfortable, and more than a little horny. And Scarlett isn’t helping the situation. Far from it.

She’s curled up in the chair opposite him, buried in a book. He’s been watching her read for the last hour, lost in the variety of expressions that run over her face, as she reads the romance novel.

She told him to get some rest after breakfast, but he’s no more interested in rest, than he is in running around naked in the blizzard. Although, that might help cool his body down, so that is an option.

He turns on his side, concentrating on the fire instead of what his body is doing. Or wants to do. If he was at home he’d hit the gym, or go for a run. Here, he’s trapped with all this sexual tension he’s not used to. And it’s driving him fucking crazy. Scarlett is driving him fucking crazy.

‘Do you want a book to read?’ Scarlett asks, drawing him out of his thoughts.

‘Sorry?’

‘You don’t seem very settled. Reading relaxes me. It might help you.’

Not likely, and judging by the cover of the book she’s reading, it’s not going to help relax him at all. He’s got enough steamy sex scenes in his head without adding more to it. ‘Thanks, but I’m fine. Just restless.’

She lowers her book onto her lap. ‘Is there anything I can do to help?’

Again, not likely. She’s the reason he’s so restless. ‘Thanks, but I’m fine,’ he repeats. He’s far from fine, but there’s not a lot he can do about it, unless he’s going to act on some of the scenes going through his head.

Scarlett nods, then goes back to her book, leaving him staring at her again like some lovesick puppy. He turns to face the back of the couch and closes his eyes.

He manages to get his mind off Scarlett for a grand total of three minutes, before he feels her hands caressing his bare skin. He rolls over, expecting to see her in front of him, but she hasn’t moved.

‘Are you okay?’

He nods and smiles. ‘Yeah. Sorry.’

He rolls back over and stares at the back of the couch. She’s thinking about him. He tries to clear his mind of everything other than Scarlett, which isn’t too difficult, considering he can’t get his mind off her in the first place. Sure enough, her thoughts are occupied by him. Not only that, she’s imagining him naked with her in her bed.

Nick licks his lips and swallows a groan as her hands move down to his dick. He closes his eyes and attempts to shut her out. It doesn't feel right getting in her head like that. But she makes it impossible. He’s never had this connection to someone before. Maybe it has to do with his magic? It’s behaving differently away from the workshop.

He’s always been able to tell what people want around this time of year. He’s Santa. It’s part of his job, but this is a whole other level of want. Sexual fantasies had never come in to the equation before. He doesn't even have to try with her. If anything, he needs to fight to keep her thoughts from his head.
