“I have no idea why you think of yourself as a captive but let me tell you this. It would make things so much easier if you were just a no one, but no, you make me rock hard every fucking time I see you, and now that I have claimed your mouth, you have in turn, claimed me. I am yours as you are mine, forever.”

I scan his eyes looking for any sign of a lie. “Why is this time different to the other times you have kissed me?”

“Because I can no longer stay away from you. I’ve tried to keep my distance, to keep you safe from me, but I can’t any longer. Do you understand me? Forever, Rebecca. I will never let you go, and you will not run from me, ever again.”

He glares at me, awaiting an answer. “Yes, Black, I understand.”

His stare softens a little. “Come, it’s time to go home, you need a long soak in a hot bath.” I nod, and he bends to pick up his discarded rifle, and with his free hand he twines my fingers within his much larger ones. We start walking, hand in hand back to whatever awaits me. It’s a slow process, my feet aching with every step.

His confession changes things—if he means what he says—but what’s to say that now he’s finally given in to his impulses, I won’t be in the same position that Logan and Mike would have put me in? What if now, instead of just being an ignored possession around the house, he means for me to be his own personal sex slave? Am I being delusional? Panic once again bubbles up from within and breathing becomes difficult—I struggle to inhale a lungful. Black soon realizes what is happening.

“Calm down, sweetheart, just breathe slowly. One breath in and one breath out. Don’t panic, everything is going to be okay. I’ve got you.”

I claw at the jacket, needing it off immediately, and I somehow manage to find the zip and yank it down. When I become a little lightheaded and begin to sway, he kisses me again, but not invading like last time. This kiss is gentle, tentative even, and as his lips move against my own my breathing becomes more even, and my heart rate slows to a normal pace. Just as he pulls away, I feel his arm under my legs and he lifts me in his strong arms, carrying me like a small child, with the feel of the gun pressing into the side of me.

“You’re safe, Rebecca, no one will ever hurt you again. I won’t let them.” And for some unknown reason, I actually believe him. I see someone approaching us, and I tense in his arms. Feeling my reaction, he smiles at me. “It’s okay, it’s just Harold.” Looking back at Harold, Black speaks. “Take my gun will you, please? Rebecca and I are going home.”

“Of course, sir, I brought the car for you.” He points to the edge of the forest where I first entered. Black starts walking and I peer up at him, watching his face. As the dawn light hits his features, I see the dark circles under his eyes.

“You look tired,” I whisper.

His lips lift in a half smile. “That’s because I haven’t slept since you ran off. I’ve been out looking for you since the moment you left the house.”

“How could you possibly know the moment I left the house?” I wonder aloud as he sets me down at the passenger side of the vehicle. He opens the door and helps me in, before walking around the front of the vehicle and settling in his side. When he looks at me and his eyes flick to my wrist, I follow his line of sight and see my bracelet. My glare snaps back to him. “You put a fucking tracker on me? Like a bloody pet dog?” I reach out and try to open the car door, it doesn’t budge, not even when I pull the handle a couple more times.

“Not like a dog, Rebecca, like a priceless artefact, a treasure, one I never want to lose. Might I also suggest you remember that because of that tracker today I found you before any harm came to you.”

And I remember an earlier comment from him as we are approaching the front of the stone monolith of a house. “That’s what you meant earlier about those creeps who had hold of me, you were about to say if it wasn’t for the tracker, you wouldn’t have gotten to me before they hurt me.”

His eyes harden immediately. “And they would have died by my own hands had they hurt you in any way. It was hard letting them go today, after seeing them put their hands on what’s mine.”

“I’m not your possession, you know. I’m a human being, I belong to no one.” He slams on the brakes, turns the engine off, and exits the car. He comes around to my side and pulls me out, throwing me over his shoulder.

He continues past the grand staircase and down the hallway, until we come to the one room I have never been in. I feel him lean in, and then straighten again, the door opens, and we enter. Once the door is closed behind us, he stops and pulls me backward, allowing me to slide slowly down his body. His eyes tell the story—he is barely holding on. I take a step back and I am met with a wall as he steps forward, hands coming up on either side of my body, his arms caging me in place.

“Say that again, Rebecca. Go on, I dare you.” His voice is eerily calm compared to the emotion he is trying to contain and keep from showing on his face.

I stare blankly at him, knowing what he wants me to say. “I belong to no one, Black, not you or anyone else.” The entire time I speak, I’m glowering directly into his eyes.

“That’s where you are wrong, sweetheart. You belong to me. I meant what I said earlier—you are mine, forever.”

Feeling bolder than I have any right to be, I continue, “And what if I don’t want to be yours?” I see him swallow, then his eyes lower to my lips and back again to connect our gazes. I feel his lower body shift, coming closer to me as he lowers his finger to my cheek, gently sliding it down to my neck. I curl into his touch, wanting it, needing it.

“But you don’t want that, do you? You want to be mine, admit it.” He’s right, my traitorous body reacts in a way it has never done for anyone other than him. His voice, his touch, everything about him makes me weak. He could play me like a fiddle, and he knows it. “I said admit it, Rebecca.”

The fight in me flees in that moment, allowing me to give myself completely to this man, knowing that there is no point resisting it any longer.

“I want it.” His smile is reward in itself.

“Tell me what you want, Rebecca, tell me now,” he commands, and I know intuitively what to say.

“I want you, Alexander, you and only you.” His body presses into mine, forcing me flat against the wall. I can feel his rock-hard erection pressing against me, and I want it, all of him, desperately. My hands slide between us and I palm his cock through his pants. His eyes show a barely contained inferno.

“Don’t start something you’re not willing to finish.”

I look at him and smile, knowing that I have all the power in this moment. I unzip the jacket and let it fall to the floor, then I give in to my emotions, ready for what comes next. I lick my lips before whispering, “I want you, all of you. I am yours. So, what are you waiting for? Claim me.”
