"I really don't need to know, Ethel." Taking the bottle, I skulled the remaining mouthfuls before replacing the lid.

"You said children."

"What?"

"Last night, you said the Elite tried to kill your unborn children. It is very unusual for an Avalonian to have multiples?"

I nodded as he took the empty flask from my hand and replaced it with a plate of food.

"The last flask is not going to last you long. Any idea where you will go since your Prince will be arriving here soon after breakfast?"

"No idea. The only place I've ever felt safe is the estate."

"Bad idea! Not only will the Prince be watching it, but also your enemies."

"I've nearly been taken three times from the palats. Each time gets closer to succeeding. I honestly don't know what to do."

"Can I make a suggestion?"

Meeting Ethelred's eyes, I nodded. If anyone knew where I would be safest, it was him.

"There is one place that no matter who your enemy is, not even the Elite would raise a hand against you while the King offers his protection."

I swallowed the ball of fear that suddenly collected in my throat. "I wouldn't even know how to get off-planet, let alone into the King's palats to beg for his protection."

Ethelred smiled as he sat down with his own plate of food. Of all the people who could smuggle someone off-planet and into the King's palats, Ethelred was probably the only person who could do it.

"Well, is it not lucky you crawled into my bed last night, Princess?"

Shaking my head, I smiled. "Let's reframe that when you inform our Prince how you found me."

Giving me the Cyran equivalent of a grin, Ethelred pointed to my plate. "Eat your food. You're going to need your strength."
