He started to walk away, then turned back and threw back at Sebastian and Jack, “Let me know when you're all ready to really talk.”

I glanced between Jack and Sebastian. Sebastian had that stern look on his face that always made me want to make him melt. Jack looked frustrated, almost upset, as if he couldn't stand when we all fought.

“What does he mean? When we're ready to really talk?” I demanded. “I'mreadyto really talk.”

“Just take the day off and come watch our game, OK? Please?” Jack pleaded. “We have a big game today and I need to focus. I'm not going to do that knowing that some guy might be drooling all over you or pinching your ass when you're trying to work. I don't like you working at the bar.”

“And I don't like you all being controlling, but here we are,” I returned.

Sebastian looked exasperated. I had the feeling he was about to unleash on me, but Jack grabbed his arm and tugged him back.

“It's alright,” Jack told us both. “Kennedy, go ahead and get ready. It looks like your Civic got torched. It was parked too close to the apartment. So you can ride with us.”

I could have sworn Jack and Sebastian exchanged another look. Like they weren't sad that my precious, ugly, little car was no longer with us.

But when I got to work, my manager insisted that I call off for the day. “Just relax, Kennedy,” he told me. “You've been through a lot lately. And I owe you extra hours for working that charity auction. That was a huge favor.”

Why did I have the feeling the guys were behind this somehow?

I was waiting outside their locker room when Jack came out. His face brightened when he saw me, his eyes crinkling at the corners. It was a look that made a rush of joy rise up in my chest. “I know you're annoyed by us,” he murmured, kissing my cheek. “I'm sorry, you're our little good luck charm and we get distracted if we don't know you're safe. Will you please just humor us?”

“Fine,” I agreed. “I'll be up in your box.”

His answering grin was like the sun coming out. It was so warm I could bask in it.

“Good girl,” he murmured, before he caged me against the wall and kissed me until one of his teammates came to pull him away for the game.

I was walking through the lobby towards concessions when a familiar figure passed through the front entrance.

Greyson grinned at me like he couldn’t believe his luck in finding me there.

Joy surged through me, and I was amazed by the realization of how much I had missed him–until I remembered everything he’d done the other day.

Fucking asshole.

I thought about turning around, but then I decided it wasn’t worth the energy, because he’d just track me down.

He walked towards me, and I did my best not to drool. All the versions of Greyson I’d experienced were hot–if psycho–but Greyson in a fitted tee and tight jeans?

Another level.

I tried to hide how happy I was to see him, but his grin told me he could see right through me. I popped my hands onto my hips. “Tell me you didn't burn my apartment down.”

“I promise you, I did not,” Greyson said. “And if I did, it sure as hell would have backfired, given that you've moved in with those three jackasses.”

“You say it like you thought about it,” I said with a lifted eyebrow. I tried to be strong for a whole second, but then he hugged me so hard he lifted me off my feet, and I found myself fucking hugging him back–like he’d really succeeded in rewiring my brain…and my body.

He eventually set me back down and pressed a hard kiss to my lips. He kissed me like he was trying to claim me for his own.

“And anyway,” I said, slightly breathless. “I'm not living with them. I'm just staying there for a few days while I figure out a new place to live.”

“Is that so?” he murmured. “Interesting.”

“But that doesn’t mean I’m moving in with you.”

“I bet I could change your mind.”
