He was seated as close to me as was possible without being on top of me. One hand was strewn across the headrest playing with my hair, while the other fiddled with his phone, doing whatever mafia business a psycho like him does.

“I’m never seeing you again after this,” I told him as we turned down the street that led to the arena, scratching at my chest because it turned out dried cum was in fact…very itchy.

He snorted. “You’re hilarious,” he said dryly as he stared at me like…like he was in love.

I crossed my arms in front of me with a huff, like a petulant teenager as he brushed a kiss against my forehead.

“Mmmh, you smell like sex and me,” he growled, his tongue teasing my ear.

I shivered. “I smell like butt, actually. Thanks for that.”

He chuckled again as we pulled up to the arena. My eyes widened in surprise when I glanced out the window and saw three furious hockey players standing at the top of the steps that led into the arena.

“Oh good. Your fan club’s here,” Greyson drawled, nuzzling into my hair.

“Okay. See ya,” I called, trying the door so I could get the heck away from the…gorgeous, confusing, CRAZY man beside me.

Of course, that wasn’t quite the goodbye Greyson was contemplating. A second later, I was pinned to the leather seat, his hand in my pants as his fingers worked my clit and core until I was coming violently.

When he was done, he patted my ass and opened the door. “See you later, baby.”

I stood there on the sidewalk as he drove away, completely dumbfounded by what had just happened…by all the things that had just happened.

“Kennedy,” Carter yelled, running up to me and sweeping me into his embrace. “Baby, are you okay?”

“Um, that’s a difficult question,” I said dazedly. “A really difficult question.”

It hit me then that he’d been injured yesterday. “Oh my gosh. Are you okay?” There was bruising around his left eye, but other than that, he looked healthy…and beautiful.

“He came up behind me as I went to grab the phone and sucker punched me. And then he stabbed me with some sedative for good measure and threw me in the bathroom,” Carter hissed, his scowl promising pain. “But other than that, I’m great.” He smashed a kiss on my forehead, pulling me tightly against him like he couldn’t bear to let me go.

“What did he do to you?” Jack asked worriedly, his hand softly caressing my cheek.

My gaze darted over his shoulder, unable to look at him all of a sudden.

“I’d rather not talk about it,” I whispered. And that was true. I didn’t know what to say about last night. He’d wanted to transform me.

And he’d succeeded.

It was going to take awhile to unpack last night’s events.

All of them.

“Hey, sorry, but I need to get into work,” I told them lamely, even though I knew I owed them an explanation.

Carter froze and then he cleared his throat. “Okay,” he said stiffly.

He reluctantly let me go, and I shot him a fake smile as I walked up the steps, my muscles screaming with every step.

“Princess, you okay?” Sebastian asked, hustling up the stairs next to me.

“I don’t want to talk about that either,” I said softly, and his cheek ticced, a dark look in his gaze like he was contemplating Greyson’s murder.

The three of them followed me silently into the building. They spent the night nursing beers at the bar for my entire shift.

But I made them take me to my apartment at the end of the shift.

And I didn’t let them come in with me.
