“Do you know how you’re going to tell them?” she questioned.

“No freakin’ clue,” I admitted, wracking my brain for a cute idea. I couldn’t just blurt it out. However I told them, it needed to be special.

I slid the wolf pendant on my necklace back and forth across the chain as I chatted with Em for another few minutes and then hung up. And an idea came to me.

Biting my lip, I focused on conjuring the intricate gift, and then summoned a gift box to put it into. Hiding both the gift and the test away in my magickal storage, I hurried to put my makeup on, then pinched some color into my cheeks.

A knock on the door made me jump before Tye’s voice sounded on the other side, making sure I was okay.

I knew Dason hated when I shut down the link, and I also knew he sent Tye to check on me so he’d know his alpha trusted him enough to rely on him.

Realizing the box for the test still sat on the counter, I hurriedly called on my magick and burned it, letting it fizzle to ash in the sink. I ran some water to wash away the evidence and then yanked open the door, fluffing my hair like I’d only been innocently getting ready for the day, even though it was almost noon. I blamed my mates who liked to keep me in bed at all hours.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Tye asked, leaning to the side to check the bathroom as if he could smell the light fragrance of smoke.

“Of course I am.” I pushed him from the room, popped up on my toes, and gave him a kiss.

His arms went effortlessly around me, and he held me close. “You’re up to something.” One brow raised, and he studied me.

Fuck.

“Pffft.” I waved him off, pushed out of his arms, and headed down the hallway. “No, I’m not.”

I felt his amused curiosity burn into my back as he followed me.

“Lorn’s up to something,” he told Chayton, who was making lunch for everyone.

“If by ‘something’ you mean coming into the kitchen to ask my sweet mate if we can have a picnic, then yes.”

Chayton opened his arms as I entered his domain and wrapped me up. His sweetgrass scent calmed my nerves, and I relaxed into his chest.

“You want to go on a picnic?” he asked and kissed the top of my head.

“Can we?”

“Anything for you, nizhóní. Get the basket for me?”

I dug through the cabinets for it and set it on the counter while Chayton filled it with sandwiches, drinks, and fruit.

“What’s the occasion?” Axel sauntered into the room and deftly hopped onto a bar stool.

“Can’t I just romance my men?”

“Suuure,” he drawled, sharing a look with Tye. Goddess, why did they have to be so skeptical?

“Hey.” I arched a brow at Axel as I walked backward down the hallway to get Dason. “I can be romantic. That thing I did with my tongue the other night, for instance. Pure romance, if you ask me,” I teased, enjoying the way Axel’s eyes darkened.

“Fuck me. Are you sure you want to go on a picnic? I know a room upstairs with a giant bed just waiting for us.” He wasn’t wrong. The guys had filled a room upstairs with a humongous bed that spanned from one wall to the other. There was plenty of room for all seven of us to sleep if we wanted to, though the guys still kept individual bedrooms. Okay, almost. Axel and Kota shared one, as did Jolon and Syler. Chayton, Dason, and Tye still had their own, but mostly, they all ended up in bed with me, refusing to be apart for even a night. Still, there were plenty of bedrooms left. I almost reached for my belly to run a hand over my still flat stomach, but I caught myself just in time.

I already knew which room I wanted for the baby.

Holy fuck. I was going to have ababy. Our new reality was still settling in.

Practically skipping to Dason’s door, I knocked and let myself in. Leaning over his laptop, Dason checked emails and tapped at his keyboard. After the fall of Elan and his followers, the supernatural world had looked different. Darbonne and my father—who was mostly back to himself—challenged Kingston and took over the High Coven. Both of them, along with Dason, now sat on the new Council that had been set in place among the supernaturals, made up of leaders from each sect. Keeping peace among our races was of the utmost importance.

“Everything okay?” I asked as I moved to sit on the edge of his desk.

Reaching inside myself, I checked on the veil. Though our biggest threat was gone, I’d realized there were still disturbances once in a while. A constant job of making sure species like necromancers, spirit witches, vampires, and even the fae didn’t step out of line with their powers. Anyone who could touch the veil or reach another realm fell under my jurisdiction, and I worked closely with the leaders from each supernatural sect, much like Dason did. Sensing everything was fine, I focused back on my mate.
