“Stupid fuck,” Corbin mutters.
Declan chirps in my ear that the house is clear, confirming what Saoirse already said. “I’m going to her,” I say. I hurry toward the east wing, where we first breached a wall that had no guards. It was the obvious weak spot, and almost too easy to get through. Though, I appreciated how simple this mission was. There’s a car a mile away, but if Saoirse is hurt, Yuliya is probably carrying her.
They’re not running, so I should be able to catch up easily. My heart pounds with each step while I force myself to pick up the pace.
I’m coming, princess.
I’m through the hole in the wall, running in the yard when I spot them. Saoirse is leaning on Yuliya, her head resting on her shoulder. She’s not limping, they’re just moving at a snail’s pace.
She’s in a pair of men’s sweatpants, which instantly spurs nausea. They changed her out of her clothes. I don’t want to think about what that means for her.
I focus on what I know. She’s standing. She’s physically alive, even if she’s hurt. We’ll figure out the rest later.
“Saoirse!” I cry out with every bit of oxygen in my lungs. “Saoirse!” My arms pump to gain momentum with my legs.
Yuliya stops. They heard me. They heard me despite how far they are.
“Saoirse!” I call out again.
She turns, and the air whooshes from my lungs as she faces me. I’m so close, I can practically feel the warmth of her skin on mine. She smiles, despite the clear pain she’s in, and then she pulls away from Yuliya. We close the distance fast, both of us running, even though it’s taking too much from her.
My arms reach out and I pull her into my chest. We collapse on the wet morning grass. I haven’t slept in forty-eight hours, but nothing else matters as I pull her into my lap.
“I’m so sorry.” My hands wrap in her hair while she sobs into my chest. “Fuck. So sorry. I should have been there, should have stopped it. Forgive me. Please, God.” My own eyes burn with tears. “I’m going to kill him. I swear it, baby. Tell me you’re okay.Please. I can’t take it.”
My body rocks, soothing us both while she keeps herself tucked into me. No one bothers us. No one tells us we have to go quickly, before reinforcements show up. They leave us in our bubble.
“I’m okay now,” Saoirse finally whispers.
She pulls away, tilting her head to look at me. Her hands cup my cheek, a warm smile plastered on her lips. Then she kisses me.
She doesn’t give me time to react, to take in her cuts and bruises.
This isn’t about checking her over—Haley can do that later. This is about making sure she knows how much I fucking love her. Even if I don’t say the words out loud.
A hand runs down her back, drawing soothing strokes while I return her kiss. My heart, my soul, my very existence is wound up in this woman.
I was stupid to let her go. Never again.
Saoirse sighs, untangling our mouths. We’ve got a full audience now. Sean, Declan, Yuliya, Corbin, and Callum circle around us. Saoirse drops her head to my shoulder, embracing me in a hug.
The rest of us look rough. We’re all covered in blood and debris. “What in the ever loving fuck?” Callum gripes above me.
“Yeah. I guess this is awkward,” Corbin says, scratching his head. “Cal, engagement is off, man.”
Saoirse’s eyes widen, as if she’s just now realizing we’re in company. She gasps, trying to climb away from me, but I hold her tighter. “Oh, my God. Corbin. I’m—I can explain!”
He waves a hand, his gaze on Yuliya. “No need.”
“No need?” Callum huffs. “Someone needs to fill me in. Bloody hell. My best employee is tongue fucking my baby sister in front of her fiancé!”
“What? What’s going on?” Haley chirps in my ear.
I chuckle. The pregnant one is upset she’s left out. We practically had to tie her to Sean’s computer chair to keep her from joining in on the action.
“Your baby daddy is about to stroke out,” Paddy says, approaching us, his grip on another person he’s caught.
Saoirse’s grip tightens on my shoulder as she watches her brother bring forward a man. And not just any man. Thomas Walsh, Brian Walsh’s little brother.
