“That’s fucking hot,” Jack said lowly.

Ishir let himself be manhandled to his side, fucked open again, letting pleasure build with the knowledge that it wouldn’t peak.

He was panting and whining by the time Jack came, but he didn’t ask for more. It felt good, holding off. An achievement in and of itself.

They showered separately, Jack watching Ishir as he dressed.

“Who was the guy last night? Boyfriend? Reward system his idea?” Jack asked.

Ishir frowned, confused. “Who? Zee?”

Jack shrugged questioningly.

“Nah, we’re just friends.”

“Really?” Jack said flatly, clearly disbelieving.

“We are!”

“He was staring at you all night.”

“Oh, he’s just like that—protective. He can be a little intense sometimes.”

Jack nodded slowly. “Sure.”

Ishir didn’t bother convincing him.

“Well,” Jack said as Ishir put his shoes on by the door, “if you’re ever in Portland again, hit me up. Even if you’re not allowed to come.”

Ishir gave him a slow smile. “Yeah. Okay.” That sounded like a great plan to him.

CHAPTER THREE

Ishir made it to the hotel early enough for team breakfast. He changed quickly in his room, Zee already in the dining room.

“Well, look who it is,” Zee drawled as Ishir sat down with a plate full of buffet food.

Ishir ignored him, digging into his turkey bacon as the rest of the team and the coaching staff talked around them. He was absolutely starving.

“How’d it go?” Zee asked.

“Good.” Ishir wasn’t about to give him details.

“Yeah? Did I choose well?”

An embarrassed rush of heat went through Ishir. Were they actually going to talk about the fact that Zee had chosen someone to fuck him? “Yeah. Well done, Zee. Thank you.” The words were meant to be sarcastic, but they came out weird and stilted.

Ishir could feel Zee’s eyes on him, a searing weight.

The thing was—as great as Jack had been, Ishir hadn’t been able to stop thinking about Zee, something that hadn’t happened to him since he was a teenager.

Back when he was seventeen, every jerk-off session would feature Zee. Ishir would imagine what it would be like to get on his knees for him. What it would be like for all his firsts to be spent with the person he loved.

With time, the shame of using his best friend like that had crept into Ishir. He’d buried all those images away in the hard soil of a place even he couldn’t reach.

Last night had unearthed all of them. Asblaséas he was pretending to be about it, he knew what had happened last night was weird.

Ishir and Zee were close but notthatclose.
