He was all over Ishirconstantly.Ishir would fix himself a drink in the kitchen and there Zee was, wrapping him in his arms from behind, nipping at his throat. On the couch, they’d tangle so closely that Ishir truly didn’t know where he started and Zee ended. Each night, Zee would rip their clothes off and scent him all over.

Even in public, he barely seemed to restrain himself. He’d always been a touchy person with Ishir, so nobody pointed out how they were attached at the hip, but Ishir noticed. Every day was a struggle not to have his knees buckle when Zee squeezed the back of his neck while they were talking to someone. To not kiss him when Zee crowded his side, arm over his shoulders as they walked.

Zee just…kept surprising him. They went to a bonfire together, and Zee didn’t growl at any of the Alphas, just clinched an arm around Ishir’s waist and whispered things in his ear all night, making him break down in giggles several times.

They went to a barbecue at Ishir’s parents’ house, and Ishir came out to the garden to see Zee and Ishir’s dad sitting together, Zee laughing as his dad tried out some of his professor jokes on him.

“That one, that one,” Zee said. “But make it dirtier.”

“Oh, I couldn’t…could I?” Ishir’s dad mused.

Of course, everybody in Ishir’s life already knew and loved Zee. Their families fit together. There was nothing to adjust.

They cleaned up at the end of the night, Zee sneaking up behind him in the kitchen and locking him in an embrace.

Ishir jumped. “Hey!”

“Gotcha.” He kissed Ishir on the cheek. “You doing good? Have fun?”

“Yeah. Just gonna finish these things that don’t fit in the dishwasher, and we can go.”

“Sweet. I’ll—oh, hi, Mom.”

Ishir’s back was suddenly cold as Zee jumped away.

“Boys,” Zee’s mom drawled, eyebrow quirked.

Zee smiled sheepishly. “So, uh…”

His mom waved him off. “It’s about time.”

Relief was a crystalline wash inside Ishir. Of course their parents weren’t gonna freak out, but…it was good toknow.

Still—it brought up concerns about how touchy Zee was being.

Ishir waited until they got home, leaning against a kitchen counter as he watched Zee put the leftovers away. “I’m glad your mom knows. If you wanted to, we could tell the rest of our parents?”

“Oh, yeah. Totally,” Zee agreed readily.

Ishir was surprised by how eager he sounded. “Really? You don’t mind them knowing you’re bi?”

“Nah.”

Ishir chewed on his lip. “People might start talking, you know. When you stop hooking up with Omegas and are with me all the time…”

Zee shrugged. “People tend to see what they wanna see. They already know we’re weird about each other. I doubt they’re gonna think anything of it.”

“Right…”

“And, honestly, I don’t really care. Obviously, I’m not gonna out you without your permission, but I don’t care if people know about me.”

Ishir stared at him as if he were crazy. “Zee, it isn’t about people here.Everyonewould know. We’d have to talk to the media about it, the fans would be dicks…it’d be rough. This isn’t a joke.”

“Hey.” Zee took his hands, kissing his knuckles. “I get that it’s a big deal for you, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I just genuinely don’t care. As long as the league doesn’t split us up—and I doubt the Cats are gonna do that as long as we keep playing how we have—I seriously could not give less of a shit about what some bozo on Twitter says.”

“Yeah, but…” Ishir stopped short. He didn’t have a counterargument.

Coming out was a big fucking deal. The nasty chirps it would infer, the headache from the media—it justmattered.
