“I’m done waiting on you, Dillan. Speak now or I hang up.”

“You don’t know shit about what’s happening, but you will know no one touches my cousin.”

“Fuck off. I’ve beaten Finn’s ass before, and I’ll do it again if he doesn’t leave my fiancée the fuck alone.”

I hang up and go back to my texts with Carmine.

Me

Is the plan to kill him

Carmine

Looks like it. I hope so.

Me

But we can’t be sure

Carmine

Not yet at least. But enjoy the threat being gone

Me

I will I’m headed to mama and papa’s to meet Chellie. I got a text saying that’s where she’s at.

Carmine

Marco and Matteo are with her today

Me

Thanks

I head into my bathroom and shower. I freshen up after going a round in the ring since I doubt Chellie would appreciate me stinking of sweat with blood on my face after not seeing me for three days. I grab some arnica and slather it on my face, ribs, and kidney. The hits I took were worse than the nicks the bullets gave me. Maybe the bruised face will keep everyone from saying I’m the pretty one in the family.

I’m scrolling texts when the elevator dings. I never let the doors open without looking around. The moment they slide apart to reveal my underground parking garage, I’m greeted with three guns trained on me.

“Hola, Tres J’s. What the fuck do you want?”

I walk forward as though they don’t have their guns cocked with their fingers on the trigger. If they shoot, it won’t be to kill. The three brothers — Jorge, Javier, and Joaquin — could be triplets, but there’s a year or two between each. They’re still as inseparable as they were when they moved to America as teens. They saw some fucked-up shit growing up in Colombia. They’re fucking crazy. They can play nice and make people think they’re civilized. But walking off an elevator to find them drawing on me shows they’re anything but.

Javier takes a step toward me, so I ease my hand into my pocket.

“Uh-uh. Hands away from your knives. You went after our men for no reason.”

“I had a damn good reason. Finn O’Rourke.”

“What’s that asshat have to do with anything?”

“He told us you had a hit out on one of our senior guys. We were investigating. Turns out Dillan and Finn wanted to handle something themselves and knew they couldn’t without distracting us. It didn’t last long, and I resolved it with them. They won’t try making a fool of us again or go after something that isn’t theirs.”

“You mean Michelle Russo.”

My gaze jumps to Joaquin as he says my fiancée’s name. I want to demand they tell me everything they know about her.

“She’smuy bonita.” Very pretty.
