“A food coma.”

I reach across the table and take her hand. She turns them, so we can entwine our fingers. Her thumb rubs the outside of mine as she speaks.

“How was your day?”

I don’t want to tell her it was fucking frustrating.

“Productive. I had a meeting with Carmine about a project’s budget. I talked to Luca about some assignments for guys who work for us. I got some regular accounting work done. Not exciting, but good. How about you, piccolina?”

“Other than dealing with my boss’s boss, it went well. We brought on a new client about two months ago, so I’ve been reviewing contracts for them with the various vendors they want to use. A few of the contracts are not in the client’s favor, so I’m redlining them and getting ready to go over them. The client’s new to the nonprofit world, so I want to make sure no one takes advantage of them. Another client is a publicly traded entity that wishes to start a nonprofit and is trying to figure out where to incorporate.”

“Delaware, Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Texas, in that order.”

That’s an easy answer for an accountant. Delaware is often the preferred choice, but other states have unique benefits for organizations. I know because we have at least a dozen nonprofits that are shells for our less than legal enterprises.

She shifts uncomfortably.

“I recommended Nevada since it’s a tax haven. This client is — uh — they’d prefer to keep their connections to the IRS limited.”

I lift my chin, and my jaw sets.

“The Kutsenkos.”

“Enzo, this has been in the works for a while. Laura handles their corporate stuff, but this isn’t her area of expertise. It’s mine.”

“And they thought dragging you into business with them is okay.”

“They didn’t drag me anywhere.”

“Your name will be forever linked to that charity. That means your name is forever linked to theirs. A little IRS probe will easily connect you to any and all of their shady shit.”

She releases my hand and sits back. She crosses her arms, and I could kick myself. I still stand by what I said, but I just ruined our date by picking an argument and insulting her friend. She watches me for a moment, then leans forward and keeps her voice down.

“Are you pissed because you’re actually worried? Or are you pissed because it’s them, and you don’t want me favoring them?”

“Both.”

It’s my turn to sit back and cross my arms. She shifts into the chair beside me instead of across from me. Her hand goes to my thigh as she brings her lips close to my ear. It slides closer to my cock as she speaks.

“I know you don’t like them, and I can guess at probably a dozen reasons.”

Her hand cups my cock, and I’m ready to jump out of my skin.

“I’m doing this as a favor to Laura not for Maks or any of his relatives. Even if they weren’t all married, I wouldn’t be interested. Not when all I want is to taste you.”

She sits back and pulls her hand away, but I’m faster. Mine dives under the tablecloth and presses hers back to my dick.

“If you aren’t careful, I won’t wait until we’re at your place before I give you what you want.”

Her eyes dart to the bathroom. No.

“Come with me, little girl.”

We stand, and I lead her to the office. I glance over her head at Manny and shoot him a warning look. I have never taken a woman into any office before, so his shock is understandable. I use my key to let us in and lock the door behind us.

When I turn, Michelle is already kneeling with her hands on her thighs. Her head is down, and her gaze is on the floor. Perfectly submissive. At my club, that would be perfect. I’m not so sure I’m crazy about it now. I want her to submit to me, but I don’t want her submissive.

I don’t know how to explain the difference in my mind. I want her to let me lead and be in control, but I don’t want to do thingstoher. I want to do thingswithher.
