Gushing about them.

Critiquing them.

Going back and forth on which one I liked the most.

When I kissed him at the door to his old apartment, Rafael’s smile told me he knew he had already won. I’d hold out a little longer, but forgiveness was inevitable.

Bashand a few of the guys they trusted had moved all of mine and Rafael’s stuff out while I was gone, except a bag Miley packed for me while they were there. When they returned, they had all of Miles’ stuff with them.

She spent the day organizing her things, and seemed more at-peace with the changes than I expected.

Brynn, Miles, and I all dug out our laptops as we settled on the couch for another Christmas movie. It was already late, and I still wasn’t anywhere near caught up with the candy, but that was tomorrow’s problem.

Because we were spending the night looking at houses.

We oohed and ahhed together, gushing and debating. As always, Brynn was the romantic one who fell in love with the elegant arches or floor-to-ceiling windows. And, as expected, Miley pointed out the potential positives and negatives of every option.

All of the houses were beautiful, though.

We couldn’t decide.

That night, I curled up in mine and Raf’s old bed with Brynn. The sheets and comforter were different than when we shared it, and everything smelled like laundry detergent.

Brynn sprawled out over almost the entire massive bed, but I didn’t fall asleep right away.

Laying on my side, I stared at my phone for a solid five minutes before I finally picked it up and texted Rafael.

Me

Where are you sleeping?

Raf

On the couch in Brynn’s new place. August isn’t feeling generous with her bed, and he’s got the spare

Me

I’m sorry

Raf

Don’t be. I was an ass, so I deserve the punishment

He really hadn’t been an ass, but I appreciated the sentiment anyway.

Me

How long do you think I have until my eyes go red?

Raf

Hard to say. It’s different for everyone. My mom can go about a week, and then it hits her, and she’s a damn menace until she eats. I’ve only seen it happen twice, when she and my dad disagreed about something.

Me

I can’t imagine them fighting.

Raf
