And Brynn was planning on moving back to the apartment next door as soon as I was out, so our issues were keeping her stuck living a hall away from all of her stuff.

So I had to move out when Rafael and I got the keys.

The problem was, moving out meant jumping all-in with Rafael.

The thought made me more nervous than I wanted to admit.

The last time we lived together, we’d done it because we had no choice. Because we needed to fool people into thinking our relationship wasn’t at its beginning.

I had moved into an apartment that belonged to him. We had our own beds, even if we didn’t sleep apart. We were together because we had to be.

All of that would change.

We would be living together because we wanted to. Inourhouse. One we decided on together, even if he’d given me final say. One we paid for from a bank account that had both our names on it.

We would be sharingourbed, along with the rest ofourfurniture.

Our relationship was real.

Our mate bond was real.

Ourmarriagewas real.

And as much as I tried to fight it, I was in love with my husband.

Miles and Brynn were my family, but Rafael had become that too.

I trusted him.

I had fun with him.

And I was so damn tired of the distance I’d put between us.

“You look like shit,” Brynn mumbled, leaning up against the doorway and pushing tangled hair out of her eyes. “Are you finally going to go after Rafael?”

“I am.” I didn’t bother pulling a brush through my hair or changing my clothes. Over my shoulder, I called, “Stay out of the hallway until I come back in.”

Brynn laughed, and I flipped her off as I left.

My lips stretched in a grin when she laughed louder.

The door closed behind me, and I knocked loudly on the one to Brynn’s apartment, where August and Raf were sleeping.

When no one answered immediately, I knocked louder. I couldn’t remember the code, so I couldn’t just let myself in.

When therestillwasn’t an answer, I yelled, “Open the damn door, Raf!”

There was a moment of silence, and then it swung open.

My mate was in the doorway, towering above me with all that yummy tan skin. All he had on was a pair of joggers, and his hair was a mess.

Perfect.

He was perfect.

His lips stretched in a sleepy, sexy smile, and the lust around him grew thicker and redder. “Feeling a little hungry, Tater-tot?”

I tugged him into the hallway, and he stepped out, closing the door behind him. His back thudded against it a heartbeat after it shut, when I pushed him up against the wood, pulling his mouth to mine and kissing him.
