Rafael tried to smack their hands away, but they both pulled out a few pieces of chocolate and toffee anyway. I tried not to feel pride with how quickly they staked their claim on the candy, but failed.

“Damn, this is good,” Zander said, lifting a surprised gaze my way. “This came from your coffee shop?”

“It did.”

“She won’t give me the name of the candy chef. I already asked,” Rafael said, popping one of the chocolates into his mouth.

Sebastian glanced my way again. “How much do we owe you?”

I honestly had no idea what had been in either of the boxes, so there was no way to guess.

The demons were stupidly rich though, so they could pay whatever I told them.

“Three hundred.”

Zander and Sebastian grinned.

Rafe snorted. “You charge interest by the minute, don’t you?”

“Yup. And I’ll start doubling the interest for every extra insult you throw my way.”

“I haven’tinsultedyou,” he countered.

“Not one for security, are you?” I mimicked him, earning a sheepish grimace.

One of his brothers snorted, but I didn’t look away from him long enough to see which. Probably Zander, since I hadn’t seen Sebastian show any real sign of emotion yet.

“I was hangry.”

“I’m dripping in lust, and you’re a dry, cardboard box of a human who’s never even seen a vibrator,” I said, lowering my voice in an attempt to resemble his smooth timbre. “Do you even know how sex works?”

Sebastian coughed on a laugh, and Zander snorted.

“That is not a quote,” Rafael said, lifting a finger.

“It was implied by what youdidsay.”

“You can do much better than a hundred bucks per insult from your mate,” Zander said with a grin.

“They’re not her chocolates,” Rafael pointed out. “Technically—”

Sebastian set a hand on his shoulder, hard, cutting him off. “I don’t think you want to finish that sentence.”

“You really need to eat,” Zander said, shooting me an apologetic grin. “Usually, Rafe’s the nice one.”

“Sure he is.” I hoped my deadpanned stare told him exactly how little I believed him.

“Demons typically feed on lust one to two times a week to function at their full capacity.” Sebastian released Rafael and went back to the fridge, where he pulled ingredients out. “We’re starved in prison so our magic will pull emotions from the other beings around us. It keeps everyone else calm, but only ensures our hearts keep beating. It’s survival, but just barely.”

That sounded like hell.

But, it didn’t mean I was going to offer myself up on a silver platter. Or a pink one, if it involved a vibrator.

“I’m sure it would. Anyway, I’m going to go take a shower,” I said, heading toward the stairs before the conversation could get any less comfortable.

“I’ll show you to it,” Rafael said, catching me as I reached them.

“I know what a bathroom looks like.”
