With music playing loud enough to silence my thoughts, I focused on what I was doing and worked quickly. Rafael joined me as soon as his food was gone, and when I gave him the easiest jobs (and watched him like a hawk until I was sure he could handle them), he didn’t complain at all.

His shoulders were relaxed, and his movements smoother than they had been when we first met.

Clearly, feeding him had helped. I could hardly believe the upbeat man was the same red-eyed demon who’d stepped into the shop and told me I was his. Admitting that seemed unnecessary, so I stayed quiet.

We worked without problem, only talking when we had to, but the atmosphere was as calm as it only got when I was in the kitchen alone. That was a little bizarre to me, but I liked it tremendously.

I taught Rafael how to make a few of our most popular drinks whenever we had a minute to spare, or started getting tired. When he realized I was only teaching him the sugary ones I knew he would like, he made me teach him my favorite drinks, too.

We finally left the shop as Sophie arrived to open up.

I pointed a finger at her, my eyes drooping despite the caffeine pumping through my veins. “I have to kill you for giving away my test truffles.”

She lifted her hands, but flashed me a grin. Though her gaze flicked to Rafael a few times, she didn’t question his presence. “You know how Jen and Ian are about their truffles. I had no choice but to break them out. Other customers arrived during the process, and I couldn’t turn them down when they were so intrigued. I did tell everyone they were still a work in progress, for the record, and charged them extra for the experience.”

“You’re lucky I’m exhausted,” I grumbled at her.

“Yep. And you’re lucky I’m so damn good.” She winked at me.

“I know I am.” I couldn’t fight a grin, and looked at Rafael. “Ready?”

“Yup.” He offered me an arm, and I dutifully set my hand in the crook of his elbow.

We made it back to my car quickly, and when he took the driver’s seat, I didn’t even consider protesting. The exhaustion was strong with me.

After stops at Brynn and Miley’s shops to deliver the desserts—they were on their way to mine when I texted them—we finally drove back to Rafael’s place.

When we got inside, he pointed out the spare bed. I didn’t make a peep before stripping out of my bra and his pants.

Collapsing on the ridiculously-comfortable mattress, I pulled the luxurious sheets to my chin, and promptly fell asleep.

TATUM

I expectedto sleep like a rock after everything that had happened, but as soon as I drifted off, the dreams began.

I’d never been someone who had sex dreams. They just weren’t something I’d ever had to deal with.

But whew, the dreams werefilthy.

Full of Rafael’s bare, demonic body. His smile was wicked and his tattoos danced as he devoured me, touched me, and fucked me in every way there was. The dreams always changed before I could climax, driving me to near insanity, yet holding me captive in sleep anyway.

They were unreal.

Absolutely unreal.

And even more unreal was the fact that I actually enjoyed them.

It waslate in the evening by the time I finally woke up, feeling incredibly off-balance. I was slicker between my thighs than I could remember ever being, and my body both ached and throbbed, desperately needing release.

I could hear someone cooking in the kitchen, and the low murmur of male voices. Pulling Rafael’s t-shirt over my head, I stumbled to the bathroom and used the facilities, hoping it would ease the tension in my middle.

It helped a tiny bit, but that was all.

Staring at myself in the mirror, I blinked once.

And again.
