Brynn grinned. “If ever have a mate, I’m having sex everywhere. All the time. As much as possible.”

“Then you should find yourself a demon.” I paused. “Did I see you talking to the dragon shifter yesterday? You do know he’s here trying to prove our relationship isn’t real, right?” I had filled them in on the story and the vague answers they should give, since I was becoming something of a pro at giving those fake answers.

Did I like lying?

No.

Did I think it was necessary, given the situation?

Unfortunately, yes.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Brynn wouldn’t meet my eyes.

“B,” I warned.

“I already confronted her about it, and she wouldn’t tell me anything. They look similar though. My theory is that he’s one of her elusive, fabulous brothers,” Miley said from inside the shower.

I blinked. “So your brother’s a dragon, but you’re not a supernatural?”

Brynn sighed. “I’d tell you everything if I could. There’s magic preventing me from giving any details to people who don’t already know them. Even among supernaturals, dragons are secretive. Ask Rafael; no one really knows anything.”

I believed her.

I would ask Raf though, just because I was curious.

Just to have her back, I changed the subject. “So, did you two succeed at finding one-night-stands?”

Brynn shot me a grateful look. “Miles did.”

“I will admit to nothing,” she called.

“She was totally getting her flirt on with some guy. He wasn’t a demon,” Brynn said. “She only got back a few minutes before you, so if I had to guess, it was the best sex of her life.”

“I regret telling you I’ve never enjoyed sex,” Miley grumbled.

“Did that change?” I threw in.

Her answer was reluctant. “It did.”

My lips stretched in a smile. “Is he human?”

“Too big to be human,” Brynn said, shaking her head. “I was hoping he was a werewolf or a witch.”

I made a face at the possibility of her hooking up with a witch, and Miley stuck her head out of the shower to do the same. “He’s a vampire.”

My eyebrows shot upward. “Did he drink your blood?”

Her face went red before she yanked it back into the shower.

I was a little worried, though, considering Raf and his brothers’ occupation.

Maybe I’d text him to make sure he had invited vampires. I was sure they were friends withsomeof them; Raf had said from the beginning that not all vampires were good, or bad. “Is my phone in here?”

“You didn’t have it when you came in,” Brynn told me, combing her fingers through my hair. “Why?”

“No reason.”

“He treated me way too well to be one of the shitty vampires Rafael and his brothers kill,” Miley said, picking up where I had been going with that. “Don’t worry about me. He said he’s an old family friend.”
