“Not used to the new car yet.”

“If that’s what you have to tell yourself.”

A laugh escaped me, and I smacked him on the leg. He caught my hand, lifting it to his lips and pressing a kiss to the back before he released it.

After a few more directions, I was parked in front of a bank.

I left the car running for a minute, rather than rushing out. He walked around to my side and opened my door for me, offering me a hand.

I looked up at him instead. “I’m being insecure, aren’t I?”

“Nah. Even if you were, a little insecurity won’t kill either of us. If proving this to you makes you feel even the tiniest bit better, I’m happy to do it.” He leaned over to unbuckle me, then stepped back and took my hand. When he towed me out, I couldn’t stop myself from slipping my fingers between his.

Damn traitorous body.

We spentthree hours across five different banks in town. Rafael pulled the information from a sixth up on his phone when we left the last one, followed by an online folder of deeds, titles, and pictures of the houses and vehicles he owned around the world.

Everything that Raf owned was already mine too.

My name was already on every one of them.

It was quite the mindfuck, seeing it next to Rafael’s.

Tatum Villin.

“Iknowyou didn’t mention me taking your last name,” I finally said, as I handed back his phone. My mind was spinning, but not in a bad way.

Not even a little.

He flashed me a roguish grin and pulled out of the parking lot. He’d taken my place in the driver’s seat a few banks earlier, and I hadn’t had any desire to take it back. “Supernaturals are old-fashioned. The change was automatic. I put your new license in your wallet a few weeks ago; you just haven’t noticed.”

I pulled the wallet out, and sure enough, it was the same hideous picture on a completely different ID.

UnderTatum Villin, there was a section that saidSupernatural Type: Demon.

I stared at it for a while.

A little too long, honestly.

As I put the license away, I noticed that my wallet was thicker than usual.

Much thicker than usual.

I opened the cash section, and my head immediately jerked toward Rafael. “Why the hell do I have so much cash?”

“I had to pay you for the candy I stole, remember?”

I wiggled the bills out and flipped through them. “We agreed on three hundred, Raf. You spent way more than that on food alone while we were living together. And this is threethousanddollars. How long have I been walking around with this much money?!”

As far as I could remember, I hadn’t gotten my wallet out since…

Well, since Rafael showed up in the coffee shop.

We were almost constantly together, and he had paid foreverything. The fitness classes I’d taken with Miles and Brynn were online payments, and when they hadn’t gone through, I’d checked online and even found his card attached to my account.

After seeing how much money he had, I didn’t feel even the tiniest bit bad for letting him pay, but still.

It was the principle of the matter.
