“Wait…wait!”

They don’t.

They’re just…gone.

ELLIOT

A$$A$$IN - Beauty School Dropout

“Why don’t you try again, huh?” I push my gun into Vickie’s mouth, making sure it goes all the way to her throat. “But try to add a little bit of truth to your response this time.”

She retches around it, and I press farther. Spit drips from her mouth, and still…I push farther. Her body contracts, then extends, and I pull out. She rolls to the side, vomiting on herself and the plastic sheet she’s lying on.

It does nothing except annoy me.

“I don’t know,” she cries. “Please, Elliot…” I broke one of her front teeth when I pushed the barrel into her mouth earlier, and she struggles to talk now.

Not liking her answer, I press the gun against her busted lips again.

“Stop! Stop!”

“The car, Vickie. Who was driving it?”

I’m going to have to start shooting if she keeps giving me the same answer.

“I don’t know what y-you’re talking a-about.” Snot runs down her nose, and she twists her face. She’s particularly ugly like that.

“Elliot.” Jade’s rasp is the only thing that can take me out of my trance. “She says she doesn’t know.”

I turn toward her. She’s sitting on Ethan’s chair, splitting her attention between me torturing Vickie and watching the road to see if Ethan is coming back yet.

She brought her knees to her chest, hugging them tightly. Only those who know her can understand this as the only sign of vulnerability she shows.

“Jade, please,” Vickie cries. “Please, tell him we didn’t try to kill you.”

Her gaze lazily goes to her, then to me. “They didn’t try to kill me.” The lack of emotion in her voice breaks my heart.

“See!” Vickie’s voice is more than desperate right now. “Elliot…the knife, please…”

I look at her leg. I put a knife in there earlier.

“Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Better if it stays there. I don’t want you to bleed to death.”

Pulling my gun away, I walk to Jade. Vickie won’t go anywhere with her wrists and ankles tied up. She’ll stay on the floor where I left her.

I caress Jade’s hair as she looks out of the window. “He’ll be back, my love. Don’t worry.”

Ethan isn’t here. He’s busy with Andy right now. I’m not sure if she’s worried about his safety, or worried about what he’s doing to Andy. I’ve got the sisters at home. Lea is in the basement since Vickie was the first one I wanted to interrogate.

“It’s not them, Elliot.” Jade’s voice is only a whisper. “If they were the ones behind the threats, they would have simply killed me.”

I turn back to Vickie. “We didn’t hit her with a car. I-I—At least I didn’t. We didn’t send her death threats, Elliot. Please, please, you have to believe me.”

“Well, you still cornered her in the back alley to beat the shit out of her. Didn’t you?”

She cries again when I mention what they did.
