Ethan laughs this time, loving that I’m fucking miserable.

“Enough, Jade.” Elliot’s patience is getting very thin.

But no. Not enough. The jealousy inside me gnarls at my rational side, and I snap. Again.

“If she touches you, I swear she’s fucking dead. I’ll go to that little bar, where she hangs out with her friends every Thursday, and I’ll put a fucking bullet between her eyes.” I press my thumb between Elliot’s eyebrows. “Right there.”

Ethan throws his head back, enjoying the show way too much.

But Elliot is up in a split second, wrapping his huge hand around my jaw and forcing my head up.

“Do you think this is easy for me?” he hisses. “You agreed, Jade. You agreed to the plan and now I have to follow through with it or none of us is getting any fucking money. Our power over this town is hanging on by a thread. You said yes. You knew it would hurt. But if you think it hurts you more than it does me, oh, baby, you’re so fucking wrong. If you have feelings to communicate, you share them with a soft tone and controlled words. Or you’re going to get the punishment of your fucking life. I’ve been holding back Ethan on the things he wants to do to you. I’ve been taking things one at a time. That’s all for you. I don’t have to do that. How about I stick my cock in your ass without prep and we see how you behave. You want that, baby?”

I shake my head, or as much as I can. “N-no.”

“Good. Your job was to fix up the van. Mine is to get that bitch to open the safe for us. Trust me when I say I will delay any fucking touching as much as I can, but if it comes down to it, I need you to promise you won’t kill her.”

“You two killed out of jealousy for me.”

“No. I killed people who hurt you.”

Ethan stays silent until Elliot gives him a pointed look. He shrugs. “I’m a jealous person,” the dark-haired brother says lazily. “So what?”

Elliot rolls his eyes and looks back at me. “Promise you won’t kill her.”

And here comes my brat side they both have come to live with. “I promise I won’t kill her,” I mimic his words in a way higher voice. He waits, knowing something else is coming. “Before she opens that safe.”

“Fucking hell.” He lets me go, wiping his hand over his mouth, probably to hide the smile that’s spreading on his lips. “You’re incorrigible. Go put some clothes on, we’re taking you shopping.”

I grab the sides of the two front seats, bringing myself forward in the middle to talk to the guys. “Can we go thrift shopping too? There’s an amazing shop on the South Bank. All the rich people donate their stuff there, and we can get them for super cheap.”

“Our little queen of finding gems,” Ethan says.

“What shop is that?” Elliot asks, looking up from his phone. I know he’s texting Kay, but I get weird now when he’s messaging. “I’ll put it in the GPS.”

“No need,” Ethan says casually as he drives across the bridge separating the North Shore from the South Bank. “I know where it is. Used to take her all the time.”

Elliot stiffens, looking at his brother in a way that makes me wonder if he’s about to grab the wheel and throw us into the river.

“Don’t say that,” he says in a low voice.

“What? That I took her to a thrift shop?” Ethan doesn’t seem to get it. Or maybe he does and he’s riling Elliot up on purpose.

“Mentioning your past together. That shit is over now.”

“Yeah.” Ethan shrugs. “But you can’t erase it. I’m just saying I know where her favorite shop is.”

“And I know what she looks like with a cock in her ass. Now shut the fuck up.”

My stomach twists at Elliot mentioning some of the things we did before I ran away from the North Shore.

“It’s not a competition, Elliot. Chill.” Ethan doesn’t lose his cool, but again, that’s Ethan. He can take and take and take. Then when you look away, he…apparently, he cuts people’s limbs off and drains them of their blood.

“Then shut—”

“Hey.” I slam a hand on Elliot’s shoulder. “Hey, enough. You guys are taking all the fun out of the shopping trip.”

Ethan parks in front of the huge warehouse, and I look outside with bright eyes.
