“No, I just returned from fucking Hana.” Still, he adjusted his trousers. “Should I return later?”

The king smirked at Astor from over Mylah’s ass. “That depends. Is it important?”

“It’s not …notimportant.” He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck and winced. “Fuck, Rush. If I hadn’t just exhausted myself before coming here…”

“Next time.” Rush rose onto his knees, wiping Mylah’s arousal from his face, and lined his cock back up with her core. She squirmed with desire. He gave her ass a light smack and plunged back inside her. “Do you need to talk to me abouther?”

“Yes,” Astor confirmed, always knowing thehermeant Aura.

His breath caught. Perhaps it was time—time to take the prince’s fiancée from him. Bring her here. Use her to get his revenge on Pax.Finally.It had been two years since he vowed to destroy the bastard, and he didn’t want to make it to three. “Good. Give me a moment.”

Slamming into Mylah harder and faster than before, Rush found his release. He grunted as he came, spilling into her, then stood. “Sorry to cut this short,” he told them, his voice husky.

Moans filled the room as the others continued, unaffected by the King of Sin’s impending departure. By the time Rush slipped his black trousers on, Tanix had flipped Mylah onto her back and buried his cock in her pussy.

Rush frowned. He wanted to hear her come and see what the two women would do next—with him, specifically. But some things were more important than pleasure.Very few things.

Wordlessly, he followed Astor into the hall. Half of the wall sconces were lit and firelight danced over the dark stone, casting the portraits of his ancestors in a ghoulish light. Rush flicked a glance up at the one of his mother and father on their wedding day. She wore a deep red gown of silk while his father’s black formalwear was adorned with the ceremonial sash of a king. Black to match his father’s dragon. Rush had inherited the same onyx scales from his father and his mother’s silver dragon eyes. But now he had no family. No parents. No sister. The king, the queen, and Princess Constance were all dead.

“You’re running out of household staff to corrupt,” Astor jested, a smirk playing on his thin lips.

Rush chuckled and clapped his friend on the shoulder. They practically grew up together, and, as the king’s most trusted friend, Astor knew how things were at the palace. They’d both fucked their way through the city during their adolescence, learning all there was to learn about pleasuring women. And, eventually, Rush earned the name King of Sin. “Why do you assume I’m corrupting them?”

“Please. I’ve known you for too long.” The hawk shifter turned down a side hallway and pushed open the door to a smaller, private sitting room. His bedchamber was on the other side of the frosted glass doors, the rooms permanently reserved for the shifter when he chose to stay in the palace. Two overstuffed chairs sat in front of a smoldering fireplace, and Astor sunk into one of the cushions with a sigh. “All humor aside, I need to talk to you.”

Rush nodded, then perched in the opposite chair. “The would-be Princess of Starnight. Is it about our plan to take her, or is there something else you need?”

“There’s a small issue with the timeline.” Astor rubbed the back of his neck again, a nervous habit of his.

More issues? There had been enough of those already. Bargaining for a spell with a sorceress, meticulously planning his revenge until he located everything he needed… Rush lifted his brows and waited for Astor to continue. When he didn’t, the king said,“Well?”

A flush raced up the hawk shifter’s neck, filling his cheeks. “When Hana told me the wedding was next month, it didn’t occur to me that it would be only days away. We were expecting to take Aura in two weeks, but the wedding is tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” Rush boomed. He would be damned if Pax marriedanyonethat gave him the potential of happiness, but especially Aura, a rightful heir to Rush’s throne. The hawk shifter hadn’t been close to Pax in childhood like Rush, yet even he hated the bastard. “What the fuck, Astor? I want herbeforethe wedding.”

“I’m aware. That’s why I left Hana in the middle of the night to tell you.”

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re starting to have feelings for the girl,” Rush drawled. “Which would be monumentally foolish.”

The color drained from Astor’s face. “Whether or not that’s true, I have no qualms over you abducting the older sister. But it will need to be sooner than we’d thought.”

Rush sat up straight and held up a hand to silence him. His pulse roared in his ears. Inside him, his dragon woke, tense and ready to fight whatever danger had presented itself. Claws sank into Rush’s inner muscles as his other form inched closer to the surface. He huffed a smoky breath as the beast used Rush’s eyes to take in their surroundings.Everything is fine,Rush soothed.Calm the fuck down before you destroy my palace. He hadn’t lost control in years and wouldn’t do so now at the thought of achieving his revenge tonight. The dragon eased back a fraction—not because of Rush’s warning, but because there was no enemy here—and settled on its haunches. Waiting. For what exactly, Rush wasn’t certain.

Fucking hell. The spoiled prince had fucked his way through the twelve courts, and Rush had always felt pity for whoever his fiancée was. But that had all changed in a single breath. Rush clenched his jaw.

“Everyone says Aura adores him,” Astor scoffed. “If only she knew what a bastard the man really is.”

If only. But Aura would pay for her foolishness. His plan would be less painful for her though, so she should be grateful to him for his decision.

“And Pax?” Rush asked carefully. If Pax loathed the girl, it would make things less sweet, but still worth the trouble. It also meant Astor could continue fucking Hana until he grew bored of her. If she ever discovered Aura’s fate, it would ignite a hate so deep that any feelings she might have for Astor would turn to dust. That, however, was not Rush’s problem. “How does the prince feel about her?”

Astor shrugged. “She fucking shines like the sun, how do you think he feels? She’ll be the proper little wife to squeeze out a few Starnight heirs, but he’s not about to keep his cock in his trousers.”

Rush’s dragon shifted beneath his skin, sending a pulse of vibrations through his body. He shook out his hands, releasing the tension he’d unknowingly built in his muscles. Some things never change. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, and stared into the glowing embers. And some things change forever.

“I don’t like that look on your face,” Astor mumbled.

“No?” With a smirk, the King of Sin settled back into his chair. “When have you ever shied away from creating mayhem?”
