“I suppose it’s time for you to get your hands dirty then, Your Majesty.”

“For you, I will.” He chuckled again.

Kneeling in the dirt, gloved-hands covered in it, Rush feigned care with his sapling. Aura had walked the empty orchard, directing the gardener where to place each type of tree, then asked her a handful of questions before she left. It was then that Aura turned her full attention to Rush again. Instructing him with more confidence than he’d expected. He wasn’t sure if what she told him was true, but he would follow each step she gave with precision.

“Then we just brush the soil back into the hole,” she said, burying the roots of her fruit tree.

There was nothing she could plant that would be sweeter than the sight of her at his side. Hidden away from the prying eyes of his court, she tucked a small wisp of a tree into a hole. Her golden hair was pinned up, away from her neck, her skirt bunched up around her knees, exposing her smooth legs. He imagined caressing them, slipping between them, discovering what other garments she wore beneath the cream-colored silk.

“You have to plant the tree if you want it to grow. Notlookat it.” He caught a hint of her smile even though she didn’t glance up from her work.

Rush smirked, peeling off his gloves. “Oh, I’m certainly looking at something. Very smooth stems.” His fingertips danced over her ankle and trailed up her calf, pulling a soft laugh from her. When his hand slipped beneath her skirts to skate over her center, she gasped. “They lead to my favorite flower.”

“We are planting fruit trees,” she said, her voice breathy. “Not flowers.”

Rush moved closer, shifting his body toward her, and nipped at her ear. “Would you like it if I planted myself in you, kitten? So deep and so hard that—”

“You’ve done a lot of things lately. Things you didn’t have to do.” She sucked in a breath as his fingers crept higher up her thigh.

“I didn’t have to. But I did them.” He kissed her neck, breathed her in. “Your father is a duke with a fine estate. Liana has her bakery, Hana her beauty shop, and the twins are designing their own tree house with my best builder. Judging by my treasury, your mother is filling her days by putting together enormous dowries for each of you.”

“Yes, you’ve effectively bought their forgiveness.” She rolled her eyes and drew him closer, his chest against hers, the sweet smell of starlight surrounding him, a scent he would never tire of. “But I’m not impressed with your riches.”

“No.” He swooped her off her knees, positioning her on his lap to straddle him. Another gasp escaped her as he stared into her beautiful violet eyes. So lovely, so kind, and he couldn’t help but loathe himself for what he’d almost done to her, a woman that now held his heart so fully. “What are you impressed by then?” he purred.

“That when you care about someone fiercely, you would do anything to protect them, to make them happy.”

“Don’t tell anyone my secret,” he whispered and placed a gentle kiss to her jaw. His hands slipped to her backside, drawing her closer, and she moaned as he hardened against her. “I believe this is something else you like, isn’t it? My cock inside you?”

“Are you certain of that?” she teased while reaching between them to unfasten the laces of his trousers.

“Let me remind you,” he drawled. “Please.” For once, the King of Sin’s voice came out raw, desperate. He hadn’t touched her in what felt like so long, and his pulse sped, yearning to hear her moan his name as he drove them both to climax. She held his gaze, her chest rising and falling with heady breaths

“The King of Sin doesn’t beg,” she said with a grin. “He pleasures me without remorse and makes it so I yearn for him when he doesn’t. The way I have been since we last touched.” Then she pressed her mouth to his.

As Rush slipped his tongue between her lips, her sweet flavor caressed his taste buds. He groaned. So damn good.Like sugar. Like bliss. Rush may never have begged, but when he was with Aura, he wasn’t only the King of Sin. He was justhimself.

Her palms fell upon his chest and glided down his abs until they reached the edge of his tunic. She broke away to lift the fabric over his head. “Wreck me.”

“Sinfully,” he said in a gruff voice against her lips. His hands skimmed up her thighs, slipping beneath her skirts to find her undergarments already soaked for him. She rolled her hips forward, grinding against his hand. He pressed two fingers into her heat as he trailed kisses down her neck.

As she rode his hand, he needed to feel her warmth around his cock, to feel her ride him instead. He drew his hand back, and she released a needy sound, the same sound he was holding back. She watched him with a dilated stare and he licked her arousal from his fingertips.

Aura sucked in a breath and pulled his trousers down his hips so she could free his hard length. Rush smirked and grabbed her undergarments, ripping them off.

“Black,” he quipped. “I was wondering.”

Aura silenced him by brushing her core against the tip of his cock, driving him mad. “All these years I yearned for something that wasn’t real. But you’re more real than anything,” she rasped. “Even when you’re impossible.”

Rush’s lips spread into a wide grin. He would continue to be impossible—it was too entertaining to be anything else. “I’m all yours, kitten. And I wantyouto wreckme.”

With that, Aura sank down on him with a beautiful moan. Rush tilted his head back and gave a low groan as he peeled her dress from her body. His palms skated over her skin, grazing her breasts, her sides, her thighs, until he grabbed her waist and helped her grind down on him. She rolled her hips. Taking and giving, lifting and lowering, making the King of Sin himself want to beg for more. Always. Ruining him a little more each time. It was impossible for him not to shift his hips to meet with a thrust. To bury himself deeper. Harder.

Aura’s pace grew faster and she wrapped her hands around his neck, tugging him closer as she brought her mouth to his. Rush swallowed the sounds of her pleasure as she came, her body vibrating against his while she took him over the edge to wherever she damn well pleased. He would follow her anywhere, something he never thought he would do with anyone. But she’d proven him wrong.

As she relaxed against him, he flipped them both so she was on her back beneath him, the emerald hedges surrounding them.

“Destroy me again and again, Aura.” He kissed the tip of her nose, her cheeks, her forehead. “Because I love you. Even if you don’t ever forgive me, I vow I will always protect you.”

She stared up at him with wide eyes. “The King of Sin doesn’t need to vow anything to me because I already know. And I forgive him.” She cradled his face and kissed his lips once more. “I love you.”

Rush stilled. Even though she was here with him, even though she’d fucked him, allowed him to court her, he didn’t believe she would return the sentiment. Not after the horrific things he’d done. However, he was trying to make it up to her, to be good for her in the way she deserved. “I think I need to hear those words again, kitten.”

She lifted her head so she could murmur in his ear. “I love you. Now I do believe you need to finish planting the tree.”

Rush smirked. “I have otherseedsI need to plant first, and then for you, I will plant as many trees as you wish.” He lined himself with her as her fingers gripped his back.

“Now, destroy me, Your Majesty,” she demanded.
