“Hmm, yes—must be because of the constant rain,” Noah sarcastically replied.

I felt myself blushing when I noticed random people observing my photos with drinks in hand.

Are they admiring or critiquing?I wondered.

A few gallery goers were staring right at me. I guess they had connected the dots and realized I was the mysterious girl in the photos. When I located the bar in the corner, I was tempted to order a martini to calm my nerves.

Too bad I’m underage.

“Do you like them?” Evan asked. “I took pictures of you at every opportunity when you weren’t looking.”

“I guess that explains the random flashes from time to time.” I laughed uneasily.

“You’re beautiful in how you have this innocent allure. I wanted to capture that.”

Me? Innocent? Oh, if he only knew.

I looked over at Noah; he was still grumpy.

God forbid that a man compliments me in front of him!

It wasn’t like Evan had my naked body on display for the world to see. There was nothing racy or sexual about my pictures—not even a hint.

“You inspired me, Aria, and I just wanted to share your beauty with people who would truly appreciate it.”

What a sweetheart,I thought, beaming at him.

“I don’t care how ‘innocent’ this all looks,” Noah said. “She could sue you for this.”

“Are you giving her legal advice now?” Evan laughed as he slid his hands into his pockets.

“Noah, don’t be so dramatic,” I said. “I think it’s sweet that he displayed my photos for his opening night.”

“He’s got your pictures pinned up everywhere. What if some psycho strolls in, sees what he likes and stalks you? I’m not letting you out of my sight.”

Now he was just exaggerating.

“Why did it have to be her?” he said to Evan. “You know plenty of models you could have worked with.”

“I did. If you’d look around, you’d notice their pictures. At least I care about Aria’s modeling dream. There could be a modeling scout among us right now as we speak.” Evan winked at me.

I didn’t want that dream anymore. How could I model after having nothing to show but an unsightly scar on my body? I hoped he hadn’t gone out of his way to get an agent interested in me.

“I won’t waste my breath justifying all the ways I care about her to you,” Noah said in a hostile tone.

“Fine—don’t. Just stop threatening me for no reason.”

“I’m not threatening. I’m stating facts. You simply have no legal right to display her photos without her permission.”

“Are you hard of hearing?” Evan scowled. “I already said I’m not showcasing Aria’s photos for profit. I’m tired of repeating myself to you all the time.”

Noah looked like he was about to punch him. They exchanged death glares while I became a barrier between the feuding brothers.

“Please, don’t make a scene here.”

“You should have got her consent. That’s all I’m saying.”

“You want to leave the protective father act outside? She’s not upset. Why are you trying to argue with me?”
