“Raven who? I don’t know a Raven,” Mr. Band Tee states, and I smile.

“Now you do.” He completely ignores my sass as he points to himself.

“I’m Zane, this is Creed, Eldon, and Brax,” he introduces, waving his finger at his friends too.

Creed is Mr. Quiet with the onyx eyes, Eldon with the wicked grin, and Brax the muscle man.

“I’m confused how you’re here. You don’t have a guy's name so it’s not like there could be any confusion,” Brax grunts, and I shrug.

I might be here, but that doesn’t mean I have any answers. Shit, I’ve got more questions than them at this point.

“When did you get here?” Creed asks, remaining further back than the others as his gaze locks on mine.

“About two hours ago.”

“Where are you from?” Zane interjects, happy to keep bombarding me with questions.

“Shadowmoor.”

He pauses at that. All of them do. Their brows furrow together in sync, heads tilting slightly to the left as they stare me down.

“That’s not possible,” Eldon counters, his wicked grin still in place.

I look down at my lap, then to my hands, before lifting my chin again. “I mean, it must be because I’m sitting right here.”

“The fuck?” Brax grunts, nostrils flaring. “There’s no one from Shadowmoor here.”

“I don’t know what you want me to say to you, and honestly, I’m cranky as shit. I’ve barely slept since I was pulled from my home, the drive here wasn’t the best, the shit I’ve had to deal with since getting here is only making me more irritated, and I really did come from Shadowmoor. If you don’t want to believe that, then it’s cool, but can I step out instead of wasting everyone’s time?” I ask, pointing toward my bedroom door and the deluxe bed I know is on the other side begging for me to take a nap.

Four sets of eyes stare at me, silence washing over the room as they each assess me before Eldon takes a step toward me. “Is that what the marking is on your face?”

My fingers run over the mark I know sits at my temple. “Yes.”

“Is it there by choice?” Zane quizzes, nose scrunching with a hint of distaste.

“No.”

He’s in my personal space in the next moment, thumb knocking my hand away as a warmth radiates from his touch. Before I can question him, he’s moving away, a pleased smile on his face, but the lingering heat from the brush of his skin against mine remains.

“All better.”

Creed must understand the confusion I’m feeling because he explains. “It’s gone.”

“No fucking way,” I gasp, running my hand over the spot again like I’ll be able to feel a change. When I realize it’s not as simple as that, I jump to my feet, taking two steps toward my room before a handheld mirror is held out in front of me.

Eldon offers me a knowing smile as I peer at my reflection. My hair is straggly, my eyes tired, but there’s not a single sign of a marking on my face.

“Holy fuck.” Zane chuckles as I look at him, even more pleased with himself as I stare at him in awe. “Thank you, honestly,” I breathe, shaken by the relief flooding through my veins.

“No problem. I don’t know why you haven’t done it yourself.”

I avoid his gaze as embarrassment heats my cheeks.

“I didn’t know I could.” Running my hands over my pants, the clammy feeling doesn’t leave. “Was that your gifted power or just casual?” I ask, hoping to distract from myself and it works.

“Just casual.” He smiles, taking the bait, but I don’t miss the fact that he doesn’t offer what his gifted power is.Good. That means we shouldn't have to expose the fact that I’m a fucking Void.

“So, since we’re diving into the deep end here and it seems as though we’re going to be sharing our space, what’s your surname?” Eldon asks, and I bite back the sigh threatening my tongue.
