I gently shrugged her off me and looked at her. “It was hard, but it’s a part of life. You can’t have sweet without sour, and I’d never trade knowing him, even with the pain of his death.” I was never this open with anyone. What was I doing trusting this girl? I clamped my mouth shut before I revealed any more.

Sarah smiled and stood to bring her dishes to the sink. I watched her sweet ass as she moved. My cock twitched, and I sighed. It was going to be a long few weeks. I had to figure out a plan to end this soon.

Chapter Six

Sarah

MyheartflutteredasI did my lunch dishes. Why was Warwick so trusting of me? He didn’t seem like the type to share his innermost details, yet here we were. I contemplated what this meant. Warwick rejected my advances two nights ago, so maybe he just needed a friend? It felt like more than that, though. When he held me in his arms, it felt natural, like he was meant to be there all along.

“Do you want to go swimming?” Warwick asked suddenly. “We’re going to be here for a while. We might as well have a little fun?”

I nodded. “Yes! I love swimming. I’ll go get my bathing suit on. Maria bought it, so I hope it fits.”

The bikini fit me like a glove. I was a little shocked to find out it was a thin and sexy Brazilian cut bottom. The thin piece of cloth was so small on my curvy bottom that it might as well have been a thong.

“Oh Maria,” I laughed.

What would Warwick think of my exposed bum? Usually, I’m shy, but since the wedding debacle, I felt more like I had nothing to lose. My mind flashed back to earlier in the day when Warwick had sat with me as I sobbed. I’d seen the bulge in his pants as he caressed me. I’d longed to grab it and feel it. My crotch tingled at the memory, and I wondered for the millionth time whether Warwick wanted to fuck me. I hardly imagined I was his type, though.

I grabbed my phone and Googled his name. Pictures from various events and business ventures flooded my screen. I stared at them all, admiring Warwick’s casual smiles and suave attire in all of them. There were several pictures over the years of Warwick with women. They were all tall and slim and looked as if they had stepped off the runway directly into his arms. None of them were explicitly his love interest. In fact, his demeanor seemed aloof and distant as they posed next to him.

“Well, I’m definitely not his type,” I said as I looked critically at my curvy body. I remembered the bulge in his shorts and grinned to myself. “Nonetheless, he seemed to like something about me.”

I pranced down the stairs, admiring my legs as I bounced. My mother had described me as a tomboy when I was younger, and not much had changed. I was more the girl next door than I was the supermodel.

“I’m ready,” I said.

Warwick turned and caught me in his peripheral vision. The look on his face registered his shock.

“Oh, wow, that’s a nice suit,” he winked.

“Thanks,” I said shyly. I followed Warwick to the door, and just as we stepped through it, Warwick’s cell rang and startled me.

“Shit, that’s an unknown. One sec.” Warwick said. He watched as it went to voicemail and waited. A second later, a text came in.

It’s Alex. Call me now!

Warwick hesitated before dialing. His brother answered on the second ring, and from the pitch of his voice through the phone, things did not sound good.

Warwick listened intently. He maintained a poker face as I waited. He hung up without saying a proper goodbye. Instead, he mumbled something in Italian and put down the phone.

“I didn’t know you spoke Italian,” I said. I wished I had learned my dad’s native language, but I never had, which was a huge source of contempt for him.

“Sure do! And Spanish,” he added.

“Was that important?”

“Yeah. It looks like the wedding being a bust has turned our families against each other. Alex seems to think that there’s an imminent war approaching.” Warwick said. He didn’t even bother to soften the blow. My eyes grew wide in disbelief. This was even worse than I thought.

“Oh my gosh. What now?” I moaned. I imagined my poor mom and dad as Pauly prepared to rain a world of hurt down on them.

Warwick sighed, and his eyes turned dark. “I don’t know. But Pauly wanted to merge. Alex doesn’t care that much. He’s young anyway, but Pauly? He’s a whole other can of worms. Your dad, too, I’d imagine.”

I plopped my butt down on one of the kitchen chairs, my mood deflated. Not only was I a hunted woman, but I was also the reason my family might come to harm or death. This was not good at all.

“I have to go back,” I said.

Warwick stood and glared at me. “The hell you will. There won’t be a marriage now even if you did. That ship sailed on the back of my Harley. You know that. No, we have to figure something else out. You became my responsibility the second I let you get on my motorcycle, and now I will figure this out for you.”
