We all waited, wondering just what the hell Dove was talking about.

“No,” Sloane whispered.

Dove closed her eyes and scrunched up her face.

“Say it!” Yarder hollered.

Chapter Twelve

Dove

It was crazy.

Sloane was going to kill me.

There could possibly be other things that could distract the camera crew, but my idea was a surefire way to make it happen.

One hundred percent it would work.

It could also work with Olive. If Sloane was really against it, then we could spring it on Olive, but I really hoped Sloane was good with it. Well, Aero, too.

“Doll,” Throttle drawled next to me. “Spit it out.”

I cracked open one eye and glared at him. Well, as best as I could with one eye closed.

He leaned close and put his arm around the back of my chair. “Dove.” Just my name, that was all he said, but the word rocked through me.

My god. The low timber of his voice and his face so close to mine made my stomach do a swoony flip. Now was the time the man decided to get close when my father was in the room, and we were surrounded by his friends.

I was going to have to deal with these butterfly feelings later. Much later.

I opened both eyes, and our eyes connected. “It’s huge,” I whispered.

“I think this calls for something huge, doll.”

I licked my lips and nodded. “Yeah, you’re right.”

He leaned back but kept his arm around the back of my chair.

“Uh, well,” I started. I cleared my throat and just got it out there. “Marry. Someone needs to get married. In our case, to get the camera crew away from the clubhouse, elopement. Runaway to Vegas or something. It won’t matter what you guys do here because they’re only going to care about whoever is getting married.”

“Not it,” Cue Ball called. “I love the fuck out of Olive, but I know she won’t be happy running away to get married.”

Everyone turned to Sloane and Aero.

Sloane’s eyes were slammed shut, and she looked like she was going to puke.Sorry, best friend.

Aero tapped his fingers on the table and shook his head. “Well, I was trying to figure out a good time, so I guess now is as good a time as any.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pink envelope. “Money is pretty fucking tight, so this was the best I could get.” He opened the small envelope and pulled out a gold band.

Sloane had one eye open and tipped her head slightly, watching Aero’s hands. “That’s a ring,” she whispered.

“It should be a hell of a lot better ring, but if I wait till I’m rolling in money, we’ll be dead and in the ground.” He pushed his chair back and dropped down on one knee next to Sloane.

“Oh god,” Sloane whispered. “You don’t have to do this. Please don’t do this because of the camera crew,” she pleaded.

That was exactly what I didn’t want to happen. I knew that Aero and Sloane were over the moon in love, but I didn’t want to pressure either of them into doing something they weren’t ready for.
