Chapter Fifteen
Throttle
Her arm was draped over my chest, and her head was snuggled into the crook of my neck.
This was nice.
I could count on one hand the number of times I had woken with a woman in my arms, and I would still have four fingers available.
Dove was it.
“Brother,” Aero called. “We’re gonna go get some breakfast. You want us to bring you anything back?”
I should wake up Dove so we could go with them, but I didn’t want her to move just yet. “Uh, just get us whatever you guys get. I’ll pay you when I get up.”
“Don’t sweat it,” Aero chuckled. “We’ll be back in a little bit.”
“Are you sure we should leave them alone?” Sloane whispered as he ushered her out the door.
“You’re the one who told me Dove needs to wake up on her own; otherwise, she is going to be cranky all day,” Aero reminded her.
“Well, yeah,” she muttered.
The door clicked close behind them, and then it was just me and Dove.
I didn’t know when it happened, but sometime in the middle of the night, our bodies had intertwined.
Her legs were tangled with mine, and the soft wisp of her breath on my shoulder felt like heaven.
I had known Dove since she and Sloane had wandered into the Iron Fiends world, and now it felt like home having her with me.
She stirred against me, but instead of rolling away, she managed to throw one of her legs over mine and trailed the tip of her nose up my neck.
“I’m glad you caught me,” she whispered. Her hand drifted up my chest, and she rubbed her foot up and down my leg.
“Dove,” I called.
“Hmm,” she hummed. “I like it when you say my name.”
Uh, this was unexpected but fucking nice.
“Are you sleeping, doll?” I asked.
“No, I was chasing Sloane and Aero, but you caught me,” she purred. “Now, what are you going to do with me?”
Yeah, she was asleep.
“Dove, doll, you gotta wake up,” I called.
Her lips trailed kisses across my cheek, and her hand moved to cup my cheek.
“Dove,” I called louder.
Her eyes drifted open, and her hand froze. “Throttle?” she whispered.
“You awake, doll?” I asked.
She nodded once. “Uh, yes.”
