“I don’t know what I am.”
“I know the feeling,” he said with a sad smile.
“I know what you are.”
“And, what’s that?”
“You’re a hot football player with a girlfriend, who is preparing to go pro.”
“You think I’m hot?”
“Shit, did I say that?”
“You did,” Cage said amused.
“I meant that you’re popular. Like, you’re trending. You’re hot right now.”
“I’m not sure that’s what you meant,” he said cockily.
The truth was that I wasn’t sure either. The man was sexy as hell and there was no denying that.
“Well, it wouldn’t matter even if it was what I meant. The other thing I said was that you had a girlfriend. I definitely said that.”
Cage’s smile dropped. “Yeah, there is that.”
“And, how is Tasha, by the way,” I asked not wanting to know but wanting him to keep her in mind before he flashed another of his irresistible smiles.
“She’s good,” he said soberly. “She’s hanging out with her best friend this weekend. I think they’re hiking trails or something.”
“You didn’t go with them?”
“No. I just feel like a third wheel when I’m around them. Hey, maybe the four of us could all hang out together?”
“That sounds like the worst idea I have ever heard,” I told him honestly.
“Yeah, it probably is,” he said searching his thoughts. “Did you want to, maybe, grab something to eat after we’re done here?”
I looked at Cage settling in his kind, light eyes. I wanted to spend every moment of the rest of my life with him. Of course, I wanted to grab something to eat with him after this.
“I can’t,” I told him meaning that I shouldn’t.
“Oh, okay. Are you doing something with Lou, later?”
“With Lou?”
“Yeah, you two seem close. It was almost like he was a little jealous when I came over.”
“Jealous? Lou? No, he’s just a little protective of me, I guess.”
“Are you sure because it felt like a little more than that? And, I mean, he’s a good-looking guy. I don’t know if you’re into guys are not, but…”
“I am,” I told him wanting it to be clear.
He smiled before catching himself.
“Well then, I’m pretty sure he is too. Why wouldn’t you…,” he slowed choosing his words carefully. “Why wouldn’t you try to make things happen with him?”
“Are you saying I should?”
