That was when Nero snuck one past me catching me on my chin. I fell to my knees. It wasn’t that he had knocked me down. It was that I didn’t want to fight anymore.

Quin had yelled that Nero was my brother. Was that true? I had to know. There was no way I was going to fight family.

“Stop!” Quin said suddenly running into the ring and placing himself between Nero and me.

For a second I thought that Nero was going to go after Quin. If he did, brother or not, I was going to kill him. But he didn’t. And, it took a second for him to process Quin’s words, but as he did, he dropped his fists and stared at the two of us.

“My brother?” He said quickly calming down. “Titus, who are these people?”

Titus looked at Nero as confused as he was.

“What are you talking about, Quin?” I asked shaking off the cobwebs and standing.

On my feet, Quin led me out of the ring and away from the on-lookers.

“Remember how I knew that you were adopted?”

“You said my dad didn’t have any dimples and the chances that one of my parents didn’t was near impossible.”

“Look at him. The dimples in his cheeks, the ones under his lip, his chin.”

I stared at Nero. He did have a dimple in his chin and on the two sides below his lower lip. But, so what? Didn’t a lot of people?

“Quin, that’s not much to go on.”

“But think about it. Why would a doctor, who probably worked at the hospital you were born in, tell us to talk to a guy with the same rare mixture of dimples that you do?”

I looked back a Nero. Could Quin be right? Could Nero be my brother?

“What the fuck is going on?” Nero said staring back at us.

How was I supposed to handle this? How was I going to tell an asshole, homophobe that my boyfriend thinks we could be brothers because he’s an expert on dimples? I wasn’t sure, but when he and Titus followed us away from the crowd, I knew I was going to have to be honest.

“Seriously, who the fuck are you two, and what the fuck is going on?” Nero said as Titus hovered.

Knowing there was no way around this, I pulled back my shoulders and resigned myself to whatever was going to happen next.

“My name is Cage. This is my boyfriend Quin. A couple of days ago, I learned that the man who raised me might not be my biological father. We believe he might have taken me from the hospital I was born in, Falls County Hospital.

“We’ve been here the last few days because we believe that my birth mother might have lived in this town. We don’t know if she’s alive or dead. We don’t know anything. It’s all just a guess.

“But, Quin is smart, very smart. And he said that you have a rare trait that I do too. And the only way we could both have that trait is if we were brothers.”

Nero stared at me calmer than I would have guessed he would be. What I was telling him was insane. Yet, all he did was look at me questioningly.

“What trait is that?” Nero asked.

I took a deep breath before answering.

“It’s your dimples.”

“My dimples?”

“Yeah. Some dimples are rare.”

Nero looked at me strangely.

“Dimples?” He turned to Titus. “Titus has the biggest dimples I have ever seen. Does that make me related to him too? Half the people in this town have dimples.”
