Eyes still closed, I turned my face into the crook of Lynx’s arm so I could kiss it and smell him and fall back asleep. As I did, I heard Vice complimenting, “That club girl as a decoy was brilliant shit, Boss-Man.”

Lynx’s voice was deep, warm, and ever so comforting. “And to have her waiting for Diesel to roll up?”

Legend didn’t sound quite as confident, but added, “Yeah, it seems that by the time Lorenzo realized another two of his men were down and sent two more, he was told Precious was under heavy escort.”

Precious…

On the yacht, the sun was hot but not enough to relax my spirit. I was in a bikini that covered nothing, sitting on the floor next to Lorenzo’s shiny black shoes that the yachties were always cleaning up after, trying to remove the scuffs.

None of the yachties were present now. Only Lorenzo’s men who were a part of the illegal activities.

On my left hip, my legs curled to the right, I was leaning against his legs. This was behavior I had been taught to exhibit in underground clubs, so I was confused as to why it was being requested of me now.

Lorenzo tugged on my leash when a man started up the plank to enter the boat. I guess he knew how I was going to react once I saw him.

“Da!” I called out to the man who had come to pay his debt. It had been years, but I didn’t care. Even at the age of twenty-three, I was still so eager to go back to his home. In the hours I spent alone in the dungeon, I thought of Kelly, I thought of the little boy under the tree, and I thought of Da, building him into the hero he would be when he came to rescue me someday.

That day had come.

Da did a double-take and looked closer at me, then froze, his shoes cemented to the boat’s deck. “Elle, wow, you look so different.”

Lorenzo, holding my leash taut to control me, pet the very expensive hair that professionals were brought on board to keep perfect.

“Da, can I go with you now?”

Lorenzo laughed as Da looked down at his worn shoes.

“Da? You’re here for me, correct?”

He swallowed, daring once more to look at me. “Your accent—”

“Removed,” interrupted Lorenzo. Then he cooed, “But let’s get to the good part. Tell Elle why you are truly here.”

Just then, a little girl was brought out from below by a guard. She was so wide-eyed and terrified, dried as well as new tears masking her sweet chubby cheeks.

At that very second, it all became crystal clear. Da had no intentions of paying his debt to have me back. He was only here to buy another child.

Without looking at me, Da accepted the girl being handed over to him.

My heart… shattered.

My soul… splintered.

My mind… focused.

Wrapping my arm around Lorenzo’s calf, I rubbed a breast against it. “Master.”

Extremely pleased and very intrigued, he gazed down at me. “Yes?”

“If…” I watched the little girl as she peered over her shoulder, eyes begging for help. “If… if you spare that child, I will do it.”

He grinned as if I had walked into his trap, just as planned. “Do what?”

“I’ll…” God forgive me. “…marry you.”

“Precious,” said Legend, startling me awake. “We’re stopping for gas. Just to be safe, I want you to stay in the truck. Need a piss-can or somethin’?”

Not exactly sure what a ‘piss-can’ consisted of, I replied, “No. I’m good, but thank you for offering,” so honored to be taken care of by him. I couldn’t open my heavy eyes.
